Yunus Social Business - Senior Associate - Portfolio Agriculture

About the Company:

- Yunus Social Business (YSB) Fund Bengaluru, launched in 2017, finances social businesses pan-India across impact sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, clean energy and livelihoods. We invest patient capital in these businesses in order to help them scale their operations and we provide post-investment support to these businesses on strategy, product, talent and impact assessment.

About the Role:

- YSB Fund Bengaluru is looking for an enthusiastic, driven Senior Portfolio Associate, Agriculture to aid the operations of the fund. This position would work closely with the Principal and the Managing Director of the Fund.

Key Responsibilities:

Investment:

- Carrying out due diligence processes for social businesses in YSB Fund Bengaluru's pipeline focused only on agriculture & sub-sectors within agriculture, including validation of the business and financial model, determination of financing structure, preparation and negotiation of term sheets and contracts.

- Bring in new leads, source new pipeline and conduct extensive field visits and business development for agricultural businesses.

- Develop innovative loan products for the agricultural sector.

- Create sector mapping landscape tools to develop a fund strategy in the agriculture sector.

- Prepare, present and maintain detailed and compelling investment documentation for the Investment Committee.

- Build an exhaustive network of relationships (including corporate, NGO, academic, investor, advisory) to identify new pipeline opportunities for the fund.

Portfolio Management:

- Ensuring monthly, quarterly and annual reporting is performed by the social businesses in the portfolio, ensuring due escalation of any issues (lack of reporting, underperformance, mission drift).

- Continuously improving on the portfolio management processes, including reporting and tracking tools to monitor and evaluate the social and financial impact, as well as the processes that ensure that adequate resources are matched to the needs of the entrepreneurs.

Other Duties:

- Contribute to workstreams with YSB Global Initiatives and other country teams to support a diverse range of workstreams including, the development of new tools, processes, and products, impact assessment, research, etc.

Does This Sound Like You?

Must Haves:

- Strong financial modeling and business analysis skills.

- In-depth experience in research, portfolio management, deal management.

- Hands-on experience/ passion for working with agricultural enterprises in India.

Preferred Requirements:

- 5 - 7 years of experience across lending, credit and structured products at a bank or NBFC.

- Understanding of early-stage businesses.
