OVERVIEW - PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF THE ROLE
The reporting production team is responsible for the production of financial reporting data and analysis to support all financial reporting produced within the function.
The production of financial reporting information will involve extraction of data from the group’s financial consolidation system (Magnitude) using appropriate tools (including Business Objects, Disclosure Management & Excel) and producing reports to support various stakeholders within the function.
This team will also support financial reporting owned by teams outside the function including reporting performed by the FP&A team.
The role will also work directly with stakeholders and customers where agreed to determine report specifications and to deliver in line with these specifications in a robust and timely manner.
Role Dimension
- Prime responsibility for areas under direct control, subject to agreement with Group Production & Reporting Director and Head of Reporting Production (on-shore).
- Operational management responsibility for the Off-shore Reporting Production Team.
- Priorities and scope of individual outputs / deliverables within responsibilities.
- Flexibility to address changing business requirements.
- Ensure all outputs / deliverables meet the quality and timeliness expectations of stakeholders.

- Half year and full year analyst packs and R&A packs

Other
- Ad-hoc information requests as agreed
- Production (including build) of financial reports for all stakeholders in line with FRCF and other appropriate controls, for all in scope financial reporting cycles.
- Support production of ad-hoc financial information when required.
- Support development and maintenance of the consolidation system, including participation in requirements setting and user acceptance testing. To lead on the efficient use of finance systems & applications to support financial reporting.
- Support Consolidation team with Database Administrator activities during key reporting cycles.

Qualified accountant
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Strong understanding of all areas under direct control
- Ability to work through other colleagues within and outside the group finance team, including those from difference disciplines
- Ability to distill & communicate large amounts of complex information, both financial and non-financial, and express it in terms that give understanding and a sense of ownership to stakeholders as well as focussing the audience on the key element and assumptions in the data that really matter
- Commercially astute, and able to translate between business actions and financial implications
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, in particular ability to deal and be credible with senior management
- Good written skills and ability to communicate complex issues simply to a wider (non-financial) business audience
- Sound judgement and ability to identify and articulate risks and opportunities in a balanced manner
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to work with appropriate flexibility on multiple deliverables
- Highly proactive
- Cultural and political awareness & ability to deal with people from different backgrounds
- Influencing across organisational and geographic boundaries
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, but also MCEV and related capital / regulatory / solvency requirements desirable.
- Strong controls focus to avoid financial misstatement and messaging errors.
EXPERIENCE
- Insurance or financial services experience desirable
- Prior experience of Financial Reporting in a complex FTSE 100 (or similar) environment, knowledge of best practice and emerging developments in similar multinational organisations
- Proven track record of process delivery to a very high standard
- Proven people management, including delegation and influencing
- Experience of operating at senior / executive management level and of influencing senior management and other stakeholders

- Minimum 8 + years post qualification.
- Financial Reporting experience (US GAAP)
- Preferred, Hyperion working knowledge

- BPO/KPO background, open to look at third party and captive centers
