Responsible for the overall operational performance of a major functional or geographical segment of the company. Operations represent significant financial risk and performance has a major impact on group and company. Manages middle managers and/or upper middle managers, possibly in specialized roles. Participates in the development and implementation of long-term strategies, policies and technological advancements. Considered an authority for complex technical, operational and processing functions with cross-group impact.
The essence of the job/ job purpose:
Reports jointly to the Head of Wholesale Operations in EGS; and possibly to a LoB Executive(s) in the US. Responsible for overall management of the operations of a large, complex LoB and/or multiple LOBs within Wells Fargo EGS offices in Hyderabad/Bangalore, India, and Manila, Philippines. Expected to engage with LoB partners at a strategic level, including conceptualizing, agreeing and driving initiatives to add value to the business. Operations represent substantial financial risk and performance has direct corporate-wide impact. Typically manages middle and upper middle management in several geographic areas. Contributes to a formulation of corporate-wide operations strategy and policy. Known as an industry expert and may serve on company-wide task forces or project teams that steer the company's operational direction.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Leading Operations for a large, complex LOB and/or multiple LOBs across countries
- Expected to engage with LoB partners at a strategic level
- Conceptualize, agree and drive initiatives to add value to the business.
- Build and lead teams as appropriate based on responsibility
- Deliver quality and cost-effective off-shoring solutions to the US managers
- Engage the partners (counterparts in the US) to plan, assign and manage the delivery of work
- Operational Excellence: focus on driving continuous improvement and innovation
- Risk Management: proactively identify risks and build robust internal controls
Skills & experience required:
- Demonstrated ability leading a major function or large geographic segment of a financial services organization.
- Demonstrated ability in managing relationships with senior management.
- Demonstrated ability in being part of a global function and working at a global level
- Demonstrated ability in program management
- Demonstrated ability in driving change, especially through technology
- Solid budget forecasting and risk management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large teams through middle and upper-level managers.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to companywide strategy and to use strategy to drive results.
- Must have the good understanding of global trends and practices in back-office processing.
- Must be able to demonstrate true results in impacting business outcomes and must be an innovative leader.
- Demonstrates a high degree of reliability, integrity, and trustworthiness in all areas
- Takes ownership of responsibilities and for management of risk exposure
- A seasoned, relationship-driven executive who will have the style and sensitivity to work within a highly complex business environment. Multi-cultural sensitivity a must.
- Exhibits excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Good understanding of Six Sigma, Lean, etc. and a track record of continuous improvement through the usage of the above quality tools. Experienced in process improvement and quality frameworks. Any innovation effort will be advantageous.
