Job Title – VP Service Management

Location – Chennai

Client – Large Investment Bank

Job Purpose

The VP Service Management is a leadership role in the operations shared services organisation based in Chennai. The role shall be under the employment of Bank Shared Services Chennai. It shall support the Global Service Management Leadership and Head of India Service Management in oversight and governance of the offshore supplier partners for Bank Corporate, Investment Bank and Wealth and Investment Management. It shall also support the Head of India Service Management in providing inputs to regular review and implementation of the supplier and service management operational strategy.

Key Responsibilities

- Operationalising Supplier and Service Management Strategy and Governance Framework (Supplier Governance and Related Activities): The incumbent would be responsible for helping lead / independently leading High profile supplier governance forums that shall involve senior stakeholders (Director and Managing Directors) from Bank and supplier partner. These forums may vary from operational, relational and strategic levels and are feeders or an offshoot to key business delivery and strategic decision making forums involving senior leadership members of IB and Wealth. It would involve tracking of the actions from these governance meetings and follow-ups with leadership and operational teams and forums to ensure appropriate closure along with evidencing and record keeping of the supporting documents. Participation in many governance / toll gate forums set-up either by business or supplier partner as may be required to ensure effective oversight and control environment in operationalising the supplier contracts / terms and conditions

- Offshore Financial Budgets and Change Control: The offshore supplier contracts are governed commercially through contract specific budgets which are currently at a size of c 5 million GBP per supplier ( We have 3 thrid party and 1 captive supplier). The size of the supplier’s footprint is constantly increasing. The service management team is responsible for direct oversight of this budgetary spends and approves or disapproves in the event the spends are not in line with expectations. The contracts and budgets may undergo many updations and changes due to any of the reasons including and not limited to people, process, technology, SLA, commercials, engagement model, role structure etc. The role incumbent would be expected to engage proactively with concerned parties and stakeholders in effective oversight and utilisation / approvals of the budget per vendor. This would also involve playing a leadership role in implementation of the change control process for the contracts, budgets and ensuring record keeping of spends and contract variations by relevant individuals

- MI and Reporting: Whilst supplier partner generally provides their own contracted MI and Reports. The incumbent would be expected to analytically engage in interpretation, rework, new MI, MI consolidation, Research and patterns assessments etc through multiple MI as produced either by supplier partner or individually. Hence it is expected that individual would be very thorough with MI tools and applications

- BCM and Risk awareness and updates: BCM and offshore related risk governance forms a crucial element of the offshore supplier governance and service management. The incumbent is expected to engage proactively and on day to day basis with the various risk functions including and not limited to Operational Risk, BCM , Information security and commercial teams. Hence there shall be need to constantly demonstrate risk awareness and embedding control environment for effective functioning of the offshore engagements and entities

Profile of Candidate

- Self motivated individual with exceptional communication skills and knowledge about outsourcing / offshoring

- The incumbent needs to be a self starter, work under own direction and without direct supervision (as in a different location), work with local senior management, expectation to be spread across multiple sites, occasional travel etc

- A comprehensive and extensive knowledge understanding of supplier management techniques in offshore and financial services environment including negotiation (SLA, RFI, RFP etc) and the application of industry-standard methodologies and practices

- Strong stakeholder management capabilities with proved experience and skills in multilevel stakeholder management and reporting.

- Extensive knowledge and proven ability and skills involving BCM, risk management and project management approaches, tools and phases

- Strong analytical, decision making and MI & reporting abilities

- Investment banking or Wealth Management experience shall be beneficial however not mandatory for role. However the incumbent is expected to have proven experience and knowledge in financial services environment

- Conflict Management skills with ability to lead influence the teams and groups towards decisions professionally

- Must be independent yet a team player and able to work with and through others

Academic and professional qualifications

- A high quality education and a first class general academic track record from premium school

- Commerce Graduate/ or CA/MBA/CPA or equivalent with about 12 years experience of Outsourcing / Offshoring in Financial Services Environment

- The ideal candidate will also have appropriate knowledge and skills of risk management and change management

- Knowledge or qualification in Lean Six Sigma process improvement methodologies shall be helpful

Language skills

- Fluency in English is essential

- Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal

Personal attributes

- While the individual is expected to have good planning and analytical skills but must be able to display good on the spot thinking and negotiation ability

- Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal

- Highly energetic and delivery focused, with the ability to deliver quality results with a challenging but positive and influential style

- Ability to work independently & drive initiatives forward until delivery

- Organisational skills and ability to work in high pressure matrix environment
