VP Psychometrics / Psychometrician Responsibilities Include:
- To develop psychometric expertise by attending additional training and support, as and when required and identified by other senior management, in alignment to the organizational demands.
- To conduct a range of research activities on a number of different research or development projects, leading on particular aspects of work as required.
- To build a team of competent psychometricians / psychometrists.
Main Activities:
- The majority of time (approximately 80%) will be spent working on developing psychometric methodologies and tests.
Project responsibilities include:
- Contributing to a number of different research or development projects as necessary, working independently to meet deadlines;
- applying the principles of project management;
- taking responsibility for specific aspects of work, as agreed with other senior management, including writing materials and the design of research/assessment instruments;
- assisting in conducting quantitative research;
- conducting basic statistical and psychometric analysis of research and assessment data;
- contributing to writing project reports and other research outcomes;
- contributing to the development of proposals;
- taking appropriate actions to ensure that research projects have an impact on learners, practitioners or policy makers.
Non-project time will include:
- attendance on psychometric courses (as required);
- working with other senior management to discuss performance, targets and development needs;
- attending other training courses, seminars or conferences as required by the role;
- making presentations at schools, or to relevant audiences;
- conducting other professional duties from time to time.
Person Specification:
The essential requirements for this post include:
- An understanding of classical test theory, equating, linking and item response theory, or a willingness to learn
- An experienced user of statistical software, ideally SPSS but including other statistical packages such as STATA, R and MPlus or other IRT packages
- An ability to ensure the quality of all statistical or psychometric outputs
- A practical and well-organised approach to the analysis of data
- The ability to work quickly and accurately to meet deadlines
- Strong communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively, with both researchers and other statisticians
- The ability to communicate analysis findings to a variety of audiences
- The ability to work flexibly as a member of a team with an interest in education or general social science research
- The ability to contribute to Foundation-wide strategic activities.
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Psychometrics or relevant discipline.
- PhD preferred.
- MBA in HR (from IISWBM/ISB/IIMs/SPJain/Ivy League Institutes etc.) will be considered an advantage.
