VP - Operations/Mfg - Jewelry

Our client is a manufacturer of fine jewelry, supplying to leading retailers and designer brands in the United States, Europe, Australia, Japan and South Africa. It is a family run concern employing nearly 1,100 people across multiple facilities in Mumbai, with sales operations in Europe and the United States.

They are a member of the Responsible Jewelry Council and the World Economic Forum recognises them as a Global Growth Company. The company is constantly at the forefront of innovation in product, techniques, as well as management and human resource systems, including the practice of daily yoga since the past twenty years!

Position: VP of Operations for the Brands (OEM) division

Reporting to: Managing Director

The position is based in Mumbai with occasional international and local travel

Roles and Responsibilities:

Operations:

- Responsible for timely delivery of products in the highest possible levels of quality

- Maintaining, monitoring and implementing systems of manufacturing that inculcate a culture of continual improvement

- Setting out a regular plan for resources with its budget and implementation

- Facilities management, including the complete production infrastructure

- Understanding the needs of clients and being fully aligned to them

Development and Leadership:

- Training and development of the entire team from the technical and managerial points of view for the long term

- Promote a culture of high performance with assigning appropriate responsibilities and accountability

- Set objectives, priorities, and manage the human resources from an operational angle

Strategy and vision:

- To form a world-class operation that delivers the best from its people, processes and systems

- Innovative methods of manufacturing that are always open to change and improvements

Network:

- External: technical and operational consultants and vendors, peers from other jewellery and manufacturing organizations, professional bodies

- Internal: the entire production team reports to this profile, which coordinates with product development, sales, procurement and IS/IT teams

- Leadership! Ability to lead a team of relatively young, dynamic and talented individuals. This includes a profile of MBA graduates as well as high school graduates with no work experience who would be trained on manufacturing skills

Qualifications, knowledge and experience:

- Post-graduate qualification in Operations and an engineering first degree

- At least 15 years of experience with 3 years heading operations in a dynamic manufacturing role

- Experience or deep understanding with kaizen systems of manufacturing, emphasizing on quality as the key driver of the process

- Indian and international experience

- Familiarity with SAP desirable, which is our operating platform
