Vice President Technical

1. To monitor, obtain and maintain within the prescribed validity, all the certificates and documents necessary to operate the ship in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations.

2. To ensure that upon receipt of the Statutory & Classification certificates, the same shall be checked for their correctness and then forwarded to the respective vessels

3. The vessel's survey status reports are updated monthly.

4. To organize periodical internal inspection of vessels through Technical Manager and make a schedule of same and ensure same is followed.

5. To ensure technical deficiencies are reported with their possible cause and corrective action is taken in time and recorded.

6. Advising the Tech. Manager as applicable on all technical matters concerning machinery operations.

7. To prepare specific case studies and applications for exemption / extension from class authorities and flag authorities, on as required basis.

8. To develop plans and instructions for the key shipboard operations including review of same and necessary updating yearly along with President (Tech.) and DP.

9. To monitor vessel's inspection reports made by Tech Managers.

10. To ensure that corrective action on hazardous situation and non-conformities are completed within required time.

11. To review emergency situation (oil pollution)

12. To identify and ensure together with Tech. Manager, reliability of operation of such equipment which may result in hazardous situations, if they fail suddenly.

13. To ensure that vessels are maintained in between surveys & dry-dock.

14. To ensure, identify training needs (on board). Ensuring same is imparted to the crew and officer and to develop a systematic training programme.

15. To ensure that crew member receives information on the SMS in a language they understand and that all crew are able to communicate effectively to execute their duties.

16. To ensure that vessels have required publication codes and guidelines, charts for Safe operation of the vessels navigation and bridge procedure are followed including safe navigation watch.

17. To ensure that Master is given necessary guidance & support, so that he can perform his duties safely.

18. To review Master's inspection reports and take appropriate corrective action.

19. He attends the Management Review Meetings.

20. In emergency situation he advises ship for movement of the vessel by alternate Stand by arrangements, arranges temporary and permanent repairs & w/shops.

21. In absence of President (Tech), needs to temporarily take over the responsibilities and oversee Purchase, Manning, Operations & Technical department.
