Purpose of the Role -
- This role will be part of the Derivatives Operations team responsible for processing Settlements, Confirmations & post trade recon etc.
- This role provides coverage for clients and supports various RBS PLC and NV entities
- Role functions include - Settlements, Confirmations & post trade activities for all markets.
This Role ensures:
- Adherence to global standards and procedures: Confirmations, Settlements, controls and reconciliations, post trade activities, by interacting continuously with the global product heads & desks
- Adhere to local standards and procedures, by liaising closely with compliance, operations risk and following local regulatory constraints, especially in the branches
- Review periodically (daily/weekly/monthly) exception reports thus ensuring that problems are identified and escalated as quickly as possible
- Liaising closely with the global team, Front Office & middle office to mitigate risk and improve client & business relationships.
- Be conversant in ISDA/regulatory developments and targets to deliver appropriate RBS support model
- Deliver end to end solutions to process inefficiencies by working with the relevant MO teams as well as upstream & downstream teams
- Ensure global standardisation of Settlements workflow and efficiency through close engagement with Manchester and other location offices
- Lead the team in the location to ensure that the team is motivated and fully productive.
- Control focussed: The individual will need to look at the root cause of breaks/ issues, fails and drive through new initiatives to prevent reoccurrence. Ensure that all appropriate procedures are developed, documented and consistently communicated and applied.
- Minimise risk by investigating and reporting the break/event within the threshold time limit to the correct responsibility and chasing aged breaks on time
- Ensure that Service Level Agreement (SLA) obligations, KPI/KRI's are met.
- To propose measures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation.
- Making recommendations for improvement in processes.
- Take a proactive view toward system change looking to highlight issues and suggest ways to solve existing problems.
- Look to adopt industry best practises and encourage others to do the same.
- Support cross training to reduce any key dependencies and enhance product and process knowledge, in and outside of the team.
- Conduct staff appraisals and ensure training needs are met.
- Supporting the Head of Derivatives Ops M&IB Operations, India in setting and implementing objectives for the department.
- Work closely with Head of Derivatives Ops, M&IB Operations, India to ensure that capacity planning and demands are known and understood.
- Ensure regular communication and engagement with other managers within both India and London Management.
- Evaluate significant Operations or IT related issues that impact service and escalate where necessary to other operational areas and London Operations Management.
- Support new business and aid in delivering initiatives, participating where required, particularly where client service is involved.
- Ensure prompt response to communications, with a view of time zone impact, showing high level of skill including telephone etiquette.
- Work with team members and other teams to achieve shared business goals.
- Have a track record of successfully managing relationships, both inter-departmentally and to external business partners.
- Have experience of the mechanics of all relevant derivative and hedging products.
- Understand and follow the escalation matrix and levels both internally and externally
- Aid in maintaining overall outstanding population in line with internal guidelines
- Execute investigative and supporting functions to new business initiatives.
- Have excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Must also be involved in multiple projects and be aware of various stages in the lifecycle of a project.
- Have strong analytical background, well versed with Microsoft applications.
- Operate in an environment with the utmost professionalism.
- Good level of understanding with regards to Risk & Control
- Ensure zero error rates through accuracy and controls adherence
- Review manual or ineffective processes which could be automated, or enhanced, to enable the provision of superior client support
