Vice president - Market Risk - BFS

Overall purpose of role :

As VP (Site Lead) for the Pune team, the key expectation is to take responsibility for all processes, commitments and people assigned which includes some of the following :

- Leading the daily operational process for all assigned risk and capital activities,

- Primary contact for all internal and external clients of the team including front-line desk risk management and the co-located Technology and CDO teams

- Ensure that all deliverables (business and regulatory) adhere to associated timelines and to a level of expected accuracy and completeness

- Responsibilities span the global team and the appropriate individual must be willing to engage colleagues in all locations

Key Accountabilities :

- Responsible for Leading and providing local oversight of the Market Risk team (Business Line / Functional Team) in Pune

- Leading the team through the industry and regulatory changes which will require delivering coaching, training and quite some motivating

- Responsible for operational management of daily and non-daily deliverables

- Understanding the portfolio and the top level numbers by looking for unusual connections. Providing support where necessary to risk managers and the business on ad hoc analysis and projects such as implementing new methodologies, capturing missing risks, and improving risk and capital reports

- Develop close and transparent working relationship with portfolio risk management team to enhance the overall reporting capabilities for Market Risk globally

- Incorporate all new requirements into the responsibility set for the location (ie: SRP BUK and ERRP reporting).

- People Management for a team size of approx c15 resources by end of 2018 (to grow to c40 by 2019)

- Lead & SME for Time Series Market Data & Business Line/ Non Business Line Team and responsible to ensure timely MR reporting

- Monitor, escalate any production gaps (people, system, data and operational issues) to the management team or IT.

- To provide business requirements for any new development or fixes to the Market Risk Projects team or IT and to sign off test results.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership :

- Liaise with the onshore teams, Risk Managers, Product Control as well as with the relevant Change/IT teams for various key initiatives (Tactical and Strategic Change, BAU escalations and Control tasks)

- Point of contact and SME for VaR, non-VaR, capital and market data related activities (including regulatory)

- Ability to deal with senior stake holders across different time zones (ie: Pune supports Risk Managers in Asia and across EMEA and the US)

- Assist with the global Coordination for the following: BCBS239 Fully Complaint, EUDA consolidation, MR Replatforming, RROC monthly forum, FRTB, 

Decision-making and Problem Solving :

- Analysis and problem solving skills in delivering solutions that are required by Clients

- Ability to steer the solution building process based on strong understanding of the market risk infrastructure and the VaR production processes

Risk and Control Objective [This section is mandatory for all role profiles and must not be deleted]

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Policies and Policy Standards.

Person Specification :

- Bachelor's degree in an analytical area from a reputed Tier 1 institution is required. Candidate must have an analytical/quantitative bent of mind.

- 8+ years in a top tier institution exposed to Market Risk, delivery of projects, and/or Product Analysis.

- Good knowledge of Risk and capital, especially Market Risk concepts and methodologies

- Experience in onboarding activities into a new location and building teams is essential

- Experience in building, managing and improving processes

- Prior experience in the Market Risk and RWA Reporting would be a distinct advantage

- Deep knowledge of Risk Measures, sensitivity-computation methodologies would be an advantage.

- Proficient in the use of IT Systems; ability to quickly come up the curve on in-house systems.

- Highly motivated, energetic individual with a strong process engineering and quality control focus.

- Comfortable liaising with the department's wide range of business partners that span globally,

- Comfortable in owning and being accountable for all assigned deliverables

- Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.

- Local SPOC to liaise with both Internal & External Audits to make sure that appropriate Controls are in place

- Ensure the Market Data / Risk measures function is compliant with all Regulatory requirements in terms of both timeliness as well as accuracy

- Ownership of the quality of the control checks on the processes

- Ownership of implementation of all proposed Risk Controls like the RCSA in a timely manner in the entire market risk space

- Ensure complete adherence of the team to all internal Policies and Standards at all times

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications :

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications :

- Masters Degree in a quantitative discipline ( Financial Engineering, Financial-Math) is preferable

- Proficient in programming languages - Excel VBA, SQL ( Preferred )

- Dealings with regulatory matters
