Key Areas of Responsibility:
Transaction Management:
Signed Mandates:
- Defining appropriate buyer or seller characteristics for the client
- Developing appropriate positioning for the client
- Ownership of collateral development (Information Memorandum, Financial Model, Valuation Book) of high quality
- Identifying and contacting counterparties
- Multi-party co-ordination to effect closure
- Negotiating value, deal structure and terms to close the deal, with both counterparties, clients
- Ability t-influence outcome of transaction based on negotiation skills, innovative problem solving skills and relationship management
Pitches:
- Helping the MD/ED identify trends in the sector and consequently recommending type of clients we should acquire
- Independently being able to drive the team to prepare the right pitch for the client
- At a pitch stage, ability to identify counterparties (including new ideas), valuation view, create alternate options that solves the potential client’s needs (by leveraging multiple products from the Avendus stable)
- Participate in pitches along with ED/MD and create confidence for the client on ability to close the transaction
Relationship Management:
- Building relationships with clients and counterparties during transaction process (buyers, sellers or investors)
- Engaging with the client beyond the ongoing deal (additional deal ideas/opportunities)
- Industry Networking
Sector Expertise:
- Increase in reach into assigned industry segment, becoming a thought leader on that sector with a defined time frame
- Ensuring regularity and quality of publishing research
- Codification of knowledge and strengthening the practice
- Enhance Avendus’s stature as the “go-to” bank for the assigned sector
People Management:
- Leading teams for effective deal execution
- Ability to mentor and coach team members on specific development needs
- Helping team members become capable of growing to the next stage
Knowledge and Qualification Required
- Masters in Business/CPA/CA or well reputed equivalent. CFA preferred but not necessary
- 7 -10 years total experience with at least 5 years experience post masters degree in investment banking / Private Equity
Special Skills Required:
- Understanding of evolving global business and familiarity with Indian business environment
- Exposure to M&A transactions and financial structures with excellent logical and quantitative skills.
- Experience of having worked in multiple M&A/Private Equity syndication transaction a must, successful transaction closure experience important
- Client relationship management experience in a fast paced environment
- Proven Team Management abilities with excellent written and oral communication skills
