Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role)

Principal Duties:

- Driving governance around controllership and accounting guidance to business and relevant stakeholders

- Ensuring strong controllership aptitude around life insurance business and its drivers

- Good understanding of IFRS4 and IFRS17

- Business relationship management with the key stakeholders

- Responsible for leading and driving the execution of financial accounting control process, process re enigineerings etc.

- Planning effectively around delivery constraints and optimising the plan to maximise benefits and minimise risk

- Anticipating and identifying existing and emerging risks and issues

Customers / Stakeholders

- Should have an approach of be a Business Developer

- Ensure support is provided as per requirement to onshore counterparts

- Attend/Organize all business calls /meetings and drive issue resolution as required

- Respond to queries from senior group level management as appropriate. - Feedback from key stakeholders

Leadership & Teamwork

- Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the finance and operations teams.

- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, monitor and evaluate results

- Leadership over all regulatory and compliance matters and the management of operational risk

- Control the monitoring, tracking and resolving of issues, risks and dependencies on analysis, requirements gathering, training and testing project tasks.

- Ensure proactive controls in place to highlight issues before they are picked up by business.

- Ensure optimum utilization of resources and plan for peak load volumes

- Project plans actively monitored ensuring targets/ timescales are met.

Description

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)

- The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.

- This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.

- Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)

- The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

- The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term - compliance- embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

- This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role - not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.)

- Chartered Acccountant with 15 years of exps with minimum 10 yrs domain experience.

- Excellent leadership, management and communication skills

- Lateral thinking/problem solving/creativity

- Project management experience in respect of large multi-national projects

- Experience of managing internal team members from a variety of skill sets and experience levels

- Understanding of how to manage and maximise the value of external advisers including project consultants, accountants and lawyers

- Ability to draft or verbally present updates to stakeholders and other members of the senior management team that identify progress and explain salient issues

- Ability to prepare and review Board and Steering Committee briefing packs
