Role & Responsibilities:

A vacancy exists for an experienced Data Analytics Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join the Nomura Internal Audit Analytics & Digitalization team in Powai. This position will be located in Powai but the incumbent may work on global audit assignments. This opportunity suits highly motivated candidates who have solid analytical experience to design and execute general and targeted data analytics to support various audit and consultative projects and to support the business in understanding and controlling business outcomes. This role is an opportunity for non-auditor candidates with a developer or quantitative analyst working experience to join an Internal Audit department. Auditors with relevant data analytics working experience are also encouraged to apply.

Key objectives critical to success:

Position Specifications:

- As a key member of the Analytics & Digitalization team, lead and execute data analytics projects in accordance with departmental audit standards and methodology. The position has primary responsibility to support all of Powai internal audit activities, which include: annual audit planning and risk assessment, continuous monitoring, audit execution, audit reporting, and audit issues follow-up

- Fast prototyping of different ideas for manipulating data to generate insights and high quality results

- Work independently with auditees and with minimal supervision to identify data sources for analytics. Collect data to analyze to support the audit. Conduct data interviews, record minutes effectively and follow up as necessary until data is satisfactorily and completely obtained

- Understand data structures, develop and evaluate solutions to extract relevant data for audit testing.

- Develop, test and implement SQL data queries and analysis of the data using database server and desktop solutions

- Visualize data analytics results and findings through visualization tools such as Qlik, Tableau, Excel, etc.

- Deliver audit related work on time and within budgets

- Contribute to the expansion of Internal Audit Continuous Auditing ambition by developing automated analytics tools

- Educate non-data minded colleagues in understanding the importance of data and technology in business

Mandatory Desired Technical:

- Minimum of 2 years- working experience of programming in Python and familiar with Linux/Unix environment. Alternatively, a minimum of 2 years' experience developing databases or implementing data marts and writing SQL queries to analyze large volumes of data will also be considered. Furthermore, a keen interest in learning programming skills in new technologies (e.g. Elastic Search, Graph Technology, TensorFlow, etc.) is required

- Experience of data analytical and mining tools and languages, including SQL Server, MongoDB, Graph, SSIS, Informatica, Python, R. Practical experience of using machine learning algorithms (e.g. Pandas: Python Data Analysis Library) would be seen as an advantage. Prior experience using searching technologies such as Elastic search would be seen as an advantage

- Prior experience in a data analytics role with hands-on experience working with data.

- Experience with visualization technologies such as Qlikview/Qlik Sense or Tableau, specifically the ability to stage data from multiple sources, design dashboard content, and develop applications through multiple iterations with users

- Experience of system development (build, design and/or implementation), preferably in an Investment Bank/Broker dealer or Financial Services, or with Big 4 firm accountancy firm
