This year Upaya has launched the Dignified Jobs Collaborative to increase supply of capital towards companies creating jobs for the poor and is also the Co-chair on ANDE's Decent Work and Economic Growth theme.

Position Summary:

- Upaya is looking to hire a highly motivated person to join our Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) team as an Associate. The IMM team monitors, evaluates and reports on Upaya's social performance on its Pool of Recoverable Grants (PRG) model. The team assesses Upaya's effectiveness in achieving its social mission, both in terms of the support it provides to early-stage entrepreneurs as well as their jobholders' progress out of poverty.

- Upaya seeks a detail-oriented, organized, and highly analytical individual who will ensure accurate, meaningful data management, working in Salesforce, Tableau and other online tools. The associate will also be supporting in ensuring accurate analysis and supporting data visualization of job holder impact data, partner companies' data. The associate, through secondary research will also support in developing insights for both internal and external consumption. This role is also responsible for all general Tableau operations and maintenance across functions including Portfolio Management, Fundraising, etc.

- The candidate should have a passion for brainstorming new solutions, getting things done, and for improving the lives of the extreme poor. You will be someone who is super organized (we love all productivity tools) and fits with the Upaya culture (a global team with inclusivity and productivity as its anthems).

- The ideal candidate should have experience with household surveys, dataset design, data management, data quality assurance and conducting impact evaluations. Familiarity with Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index (MPI), Gender Inequality Index to measure complex issues like poverty, inequity, gender disparity is desirable. Proficiency in Salesforce, Tableau and MS Excel are a must, and proficiency in Google Sheets is a plus. This is an opportunity to work with a hands-on team and collaborate closely in a multicultural, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Project Management for the Dignified Jobs Collaborative:

Investor and investee companies management:

- Be the primary point of contact for all the investors and their investee companies under the DJC

- Manage operational and technical challenges, during data collection, analysis, data management with the investors and investees

Data collection partner management:

- Lead the project management with the data and insights partner of Upaya for the Collaborative

- Lead the data accuracy, sanity checks, data proficiency across the stages of the initiative

Support ecosystem partnerships and knowledge dissemination:

- Relationship management with current and prospective ecosystem partners

- Support in organizing thematic workshops across stakeholders of the collaborative

Impact Management of Upaya's portfolio companies:

- Support in coordinating impact assessments of partner companies

- Support IMM team in analysis from the survey data and field learnings on Tableau and other tools

- Support IM team in creating and disseminating impact assessment reports

- Create and maintain relevant process documentation for entire survey process

- Support the IM team to generate solutions for partners to deepen their impact

- Assist in updating Upaya's IMM public dashboards on a regular basis

Support research to inform investment strategy:

- Conduct Secondary Research on potential sub-sectors with high job-creation potential for the poor

- Support in insights sharing both internally and externally

Other areas for contribution:

- Researching and supporting IM team in thought leadership knowledge pieces

- Support in presentations, proposal writing, case study development and articles

Qualification:

- Masters Degree with a focus on statistics, quantitative methods, business analytics, data science, and/or information technology.

Skills & Experience:

- 2 - 4 years of work experience; candidates will be considered based on knowledge, attitude, and proficiency in data analytics, Salesforce and Tableau.

- Knowledge of survey methodologies - quantitative and qualitative surveys

- Passion for and understanding of impact assessment, impact investing, and working on poverty alleviation.

- Strong research and analytical skills, with an understanding of database structures and management.

- Required proficiency in Salesforce and MS Office is also required with a high level of proficiency in MS Excel. Experience with Google Sheets and Tableau is considered a plus.

- Experience with managing, interpreting, and analyzing large datasets.

- Able to apply best practices in data visualization to communicate findings to a diverse set of stakeholders. Experience in making clear and concise presentations.

- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, self-motivated environment.

- Comfortable with travel to partner locations, especially far-away places like north-eastern states of India and impoverished communities.

- Strong work ethic, attention to detail and steadfast commitment to Upaya's values.

- Interest in food, competitive sports and a sense of humor are added plus points.
