Position Overview :
The Unit Head for an Integrated Cement Plant holds a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the cement manufacturing facility. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the cement industry, strong managerial skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Operational Management :
- Lead and oversee all operational activities within the integrated cement plant, including raw material preparation, clinker production, cement grinding, and packing.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and performance targets while optimizing resource utilization and minimizing downtime.
- Implement and monitor operational processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
2. Safety and Compliance :
- Champion a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct regular audits, and provide training to employees to mitigate risks and prevent accidents.
3. Quality Assurance :
- Maintain stringent quality control measures throughout the production process to ensure the consistent quality of cement products.
- Implement quality assurance programs, conduct regular quality inspections, and address any deviations or non-conformities promptly.
4. Team Leadership and Development :
- Provide strong leadership and direction to the plant team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, train, and develop talent within the plant, providing coaching, feedback, and support to enhance employee skills and performance.
5. Budgeting and Cost Management :
- Develop annual operating budgets and production plans, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-control measures to optimize operational expenses.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process optimization, and efficiency improvements to maximize profitability.
6. Environmental Stewardship :
- Promote environmental sustainability initiatives and practices, including energy conservation, waste management, and emissions reduction.
- Implement environmental management systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to environmental protection.
7. Stakeholder Engagement :
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, including corporate leadership, department heads, and plant employees.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, local communities, suppliers, and customers, to address concerns and foster goodwill.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in cement manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role
- Strong technical knowledge of cement production processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Demonstrated track record of driving operational excellence, safety performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve shared goals.
- Sound understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, and deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
