Underwriting Manager - US Mortgage

We're looking for an Underwriting Manager to own the development and execution of Homeward Mortgages underwriting department and strategies. You'll be responsible for building and overseeing a rapidly growing team of Mortgage Underwriters, ensuring they have the resources, workflows, and training needed to provide top level service to Homewards agents and customers through the mortgage process. You'll report to the head of the Underwriting Department (US) while collaborating regularly with other cross-functional departments within Homeward and Homeward Mortgage.

Responsibilities will include:

- Manage the execution of underwriting, portfolio analysis, and account-based decision-making in accordance with established guidelines and processes.

- Reduce the number of loan input errors per file with quality underwrites and maintain responsibility for salability to investors

- Supervise a staff of 10 in-house underwriters

- Analyze appraisals for acceptability to FNMA and FHLMC standards.

- Assess adequacy of internal controls, documentation, backup/redundancy, and disaster recovery procedures intend to ensure continuing and secure operations.

- Used DU/LP and internal operating system to assist in underwriting as well as manual underwriting.

- Provide contract-underwriting services for lenders of conforming and non-conforming products according to FNMA/FHLMC, and investor's guidelines.

- Approve wholesale single family and multifamily real estate loans to (FNMA/FHLMC) for conforming and jumbo investors.

- Prepare various reports including month-end pipeline and activity reports for meetings, executive meetings and board reports.

- Create and facilitate training material,

- Analyze and render conforming, VA and jumbo loan dispositions on mortgage credit applications.

- Maintain open communication with and support other departments.

- Carry out hiring and training. Updating underwriting staff ensuring that all staff are well informed of the program guideline and underwriting practice.

About you:

- Minimum 5 years of Underwriting experience in US Mortgage.

- Minimum 1 year of Underwriting Management experience in US Mortgage

- Exposure of Underwriting processes & guidelines.

- Experience of driving special initiatives/technology projects.

- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and sound judgment.

- Attention to details.
