Role :The Turtlemint group comprises 3 legal entities - a tech company, an insurance broking company that is regulated by IRDA I and a mutual fund distribution company. The company is looking for someone to lead their Financial Planning and Analysis function. Turtlemint is one of the fastest growing insurance tech companies in India and is currently operating at a scale of over US$ 250m in premium generation per annum. Given this scale and growth, the company is ambitious eventually taking the company to IPO in a few years.
The role demands that the candidate has experience in working in FP&A teams either part of the teams or leading them. The nature of work is wide ranging from helping build Annual Operating Plans of the company, helping with investor reporting, building analytics dashboards that help in tracking business performance, evaluating new business initiatives and investments.
The role also oversees some aspects of the revenue and profitability management functions within the finance team. The candidate will lead a small and highly capable team that in the future may expand to include data science talent as the business scale and complexity increases over time.
Desired Profile- Minimum 10 years' of work experience.
- Chartered Accountant with some experience in working in FP&A teams in companies.
- Strong finance function competencies with a good commercial sense that enables the candidate to effectively add value to the planning function.
- A massive advantage will be if the candidate has experience in working with analytics packages such as Tableau, Power BI etc.
- Ability to confidently interact on important issues with the founders, CXOs and investors of the company is important and hence strong communication skills is critical.
Key Responsibilities - Responsible for leading the FP&A function for the company and running a small and highly capable team.
- Annual Operating plan development and tracking of monthly performance against the plans. Doing the tracking effectively by using analytics dashboards.
- Responsible for setting up monthly MIS for investors and timely closure of submissions, clearing queries with investor teams.
- Setting up robust Business performance management framework with a set of clear dashboards that track ongoing business, new initiatives. Running the monthly operational performance management meetings with the CXOs. Working knowledge of tableau or equivalent to get speed in team is highly valuable.
- Helping oversee revenue and Gross Margin management function for the company in collaboration with business and operations teams. Keeping a close track on performance against plan for net margins, contribution margins and EBITDA
- Helping evaluate new business proposals, new investments in business initiatives, working with the project sponsors, relevant CXOs in shaping the plans as they are implemented.
- Helping with ad hoc and systematic investor reporting that the company has to do on a periodic basis. This includes uploads into the reporting portals as required from some investment funds
- Do proactive cost management; set up processes for commercial management of all key contracts and work on ways to reduce the level of recurring costs for the company.
- Supporting in the audit and due diligence processes of the company.
- Leading and helping as applicable with all fundraise efforts, setting up data room, building the financial model in partnership with the analytics team, anticipating investor queries and resolving them.
- Supporting the co-founders ; CEO and COO;- in their investor outreach, investor presentations.
Skills Required - Chartered Accountant who has been a controller in the past; running FP&A function or running finance function for a mid size company. MBA is not mandatory but will be advantageous
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with excellent interpersonal skills
- Good commercial experience of running procurement function, helping with vendor selection and commercial negotiations. Ability to bring that experience to cost management functions of the company.

- Strong financial modelling skills
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
- Exposure to data analytics tools like Tableau, Power BI etc is optional but advantageous.
- Extremely high and advanced level proficiency in Excel is must.
