Sr.Manager EHS

This position is responsible for leading and managing the Environment, Health & Safety function at the plant. The role incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all EHS policies, processes and systems defined by Corporate office are consistently implemented at the plant and all EHS compliances and standards are adhered to with a view to provide a safe work environment to all employees.

- Consistent implementation of EHS policies

- Statutory Compliance on all EHS regulations, norms and standards

- % Reduction in on site incidents related to health hazards and accidents

- % Reduction in occupational ailments

- Reduction in environmental impact

- Capability building on EHS

- Timely renewal of all licenses related to environment and safety for the plant

- Timely completion of environment and safety audits at the plant

EHS Policies & Processes:

- Implement the company's EHS Policies, processes and systems at the plant in a consistent manner

- Lead the communication at the plant of any new policies, up-dates to existing policies, creating awareness on EHS, etc.

- Advise the plant management on EHS policies and processes and related issues

- Share best practices used at the plant with EHS teams at other plants

- Ensure all information regarding any hazardous process, related to health and safety issues, is communicated to all employees in a timely manner

Incident Management:

- Take regular rounds of the plant premises to inspect the safety and hygiene maintained in different areas to check adherence to norms and standards

- Make note of any unsafe or unhygienic work conditions observed in any area of the plant premises - take photographs, document the gaps and send to concerned in charge for corrective action

- Investigate all accidents / incidents promptly and recommend appropriate remedial measures and controls to prevent them in future

- Respond to emergency situations and recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes and materials

- Report all incidents to Plant Management and EHS Head in a timely manner

- Recommend to the EHS Head and Plant management the suspension of activities that pose threats to worker's health and safety

Other Activities:

- Be a coordinator on various Health and Safety meetings at the plant such as Safety Committee etc.

- Note the minutes of these meetings, circulate to all departmental heads and follow up on actionable identified

- Monitor the function of the STP at the plant in coordination with the Utility team, routinely checking the register maintained and being present during government sampling process

- Ensure that all necessary clearances and licenses are renewed in a timely manner for STP operations

- Advise on safety related aspects in case of major capex projects, new machinery set up, etc.

- Conduct induction and other Safety related training for the management staff and workmen at the locations

People Management:

- Manage performance of the team and conduct of timely appraisals and feedback

- Ensure overall morale of the team is high

- Ensure EHS staff (including contract employees) are adequately trained, equipped and motivated so that all EHS operations can be completed in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner

- Regularly conduct training sessions for the team, shop floor operators and supervisors on correct methods of operations and usage of machine and safety equipment

Education: Chemical Engineer / P.G. (Industrial Safety)

Experience: 7 - 12 years of experience of working in EHS department for a manufacturing company with exposure to working in a plant
