Category Manager - Job Description Overall Responsibility - - Own and optimize P&L for a category (business or leisure) - Own and grow your category top line and contribution margin - Deploy category wide pricing strategies, optimize cost of sale and channel mix to hit target profitability - Measure and review performance through effective analytics - Drive regional and central growth initiatives - build effective intelligence between sales channels and supply - Develop city intelligence on type of inventory, pricing, quality through secondary market data and research - Closely monitor competitive pricing; develop a view on macro market trends - Review and analyze price elasticity, demand curves for the category across seasons - Compile weekly analysis reports to analyze key drivers of market share performance and understand overall effectiveness of strategies Planning & Forecasting - Produce accurate forecast for all key metrics on a monthly/quarterly basis for your category - Lead the budget process for the top line room revenue numbers with Sales / Marketing on the pricing and contracting strategy for month/quarter - Lead the budget process for CoS with Sales Channel Leads and Finance Partner - Proactively identify soft spot/need periods for RevPAR/CM management; work in cooperation with Sales / Marketing, as well as regional and corporate resources - Expansion strategy and communication - Clearly communicate strategic vision and objectives to all Sales Team Leads on how to drive revenues and improve performance - Guide expansion based on competition and demand in right pockets across the portfolio - Lead the category quarterly corporate and wholesale performance analysis to ensure accounts are on target and pricing is rational - Provide category revenue management strategic vision during profitability reviews
