Role purpose The Finance Manager is a direct reporting into a Business Unit Controller and will be responsible for the day to day management financial close, reporting and related processes. Key accountabilities Technical activities -&nbsp; - Manage and oversee the daily operations by setting, monitoring and managing the day to day objectives of the team - Month and end year process, general ledger, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, rent and JV accounting, fixed asset activity, etc - Monitor, reconcile and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements - Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations and other key controls are completed monthly and on time - Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles - Coordinate and complete annual group and statutory audits - Provide recommendations to improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions - Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy - Meet financial accounting objectives - Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions - Work on projects as required by management Relationship management - Develop sound professional working relationships with general ledger colleagues, business staff and management - Develop sound professional working relationships with the business, 3rd parties and Travelex teams across the business to improve the investigation and resolution process Communication - Proactive and regular communications with the business and other areas of Finance whose work impacts, or depends upon the General Ledger team - Actively communicate and seek feedback from colleagues and customers - Be supportive and encourage support for - people initiatives- - Play a participative part in Team Briefs - Be proactive in the provision of feedback and the delivery of ideas to develop and improve Travelex Finance services, in particular those within the General Ledger team. - Ensure feedback to line manager outlining general activities of role and - how we are doing- General - Undertakes any necessary training associated with the duties of the post and participates in training and development procedures - Complies with all Company Health and Safety policies and legislation in the performance of their duties and responsibilities Experience and personal qualities - Maintains confidentiality and observes data protection guidelines - Manage expenses in accordance with Company Expense Policy - Provide leadership and mentoring of the team member and develop their skills - Undertake regular one to one meetings with all team members - Carries out any other reasonable duties commensurate with their capability Essential - Qualified (CA/CWA) accountant with 4-6 years PQE or Post-Graduate with 7-8 yrs PQE - Proven ability to direct and supervise a team of 8-10 FTE - Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations - Experience of working in fast paced / Global finance department. - Prior experience working in shared service environment with an on/offshore presence is preferred - High attention to detail and accuracy - Proven ability to drive continuous improvement in the close process - Advance computer skills on MS Office, accounting software (Coda or similar GL/ERP software preferred) and databases.
