Overall Function:

- The Transport Project Advisor - Sustainable Urban Freight Coalition (SUFC), will work with the cross-cutting team at EDF to address these challenges and work closely with leading partners to help scale emission reduction strategies from urban and highway freight in India. This role, a key leader within the air quality team will report to the Lead Advisor, Air Quality.

- Transport has always been and will remain a key source of air pollution. In transport Road Freight accounts for more than 60% of PM2.5. Emissions from freight could increase faster than any other sector between now and 2050.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage a work plan across a matrixed organizational structure to maximize the impact

- Act as the SUFC point of contact for all government authorities and key partners, including Surat Municipal Corporation, DULT, NITI Aayog, Department of Commerce, TERI, industry associations, private sector, shippers etc. Coordinate local partners and other stakeholders in the environment, health and associated sectors, and support the Project manager in the stakeholder management/ engagement processes, including induction of new stakeholders

- Effectively communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to stakeholders, the EDF Air Quality team, and other internal and external audiences

- Represent EDF in high-level panels, conferences, and direct engagements

- Commissioning and delivery of impactful research products: oversee consultants and coordinate with staff and partners to ensure aligned execution of work to achieve results and work closely with financial operations lead on budget matters

- Play an important role in fundraising, including drafting proposals, growing relationships with donors and foundation officers, tracking and reporting progress, and other functions

- Work with partner organizations in building and implementing SUFC regulatory and political strategy focusing on key regulations such as the truck and public carrier CO2 standards, BS standards, truck infrastructure regulations, pricing instruments, EV charging standards etc.

- Participate in advancing EDF diversity, equity, and inclusion goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.

Must Haves:

- The incumbent should come with around 5 years of experience with a demonstrable track record in creating and executing strategies, including managing a matrixed team of experts to deliver results.

- The incumbent should have expert-level knowledge of transport, greenhouse gas mitigation, global policy, or another relevant field.

- The incumbent must have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences

- He/she should must have a Bachelor's/PG degree or equivalent professional experience

Preferable:

- Self-starter, detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to plan and execute projects from conception to completion

- Willingness and ability to engage in travel, including international travel
