Senior Manager/AVP - Market & Competitive Intelligenc

Market and Competitive Intelligence Team :

The Market and Competitive Intelligence team is part of the Corporate Strategy team at Thomson Reuters. The team is responsible for generating market, competitor and customer insights and developing implications of those insights.

Job Description :

- The AVP, Market Intelligence will be responsible for research, analysis and reporting of market, industry, economic, channel, competitive and customer insights across Thomson Reuters.

- The AVP will lead the team to develop meaningful and data-driven points of view on market size, trends, competition, customer needs and market opportunities across the Thomson Reuters businesses.

- To achieve this, the AVP will oversee the delivery of market and competitive intelligence deliverables, through regular reports and ad-hoc projects, across the business units.

- The AVP will leverage corporate strategy experience and expertise to ensure the team's quality and timeliness objectives are met.

- The AVP will engage with business unit Heads of Strategy and other internal project sponsors to capture feedback on deliverables and continuously evolve and enhance the team's output. The AVP will manage and develop team talent, as well as building a strong team community and culture.

Principal Responsibilities :

- Lead the Market & Competitive Intelligence team, driving the mission and vision of the team, directing processes and operational best practices, adapting as organizational requirements evolve

- Demonstrate thought-leadership and subject matter expertise on the broader information industry

- Partner with the business unit leads on the Market & Competitive Intelligence team to structure and direct competitive and industry intelligence initiatives

- Ensure team outputs are of the highest quality, coaching staff on what - good- looks like

- Support ad hoc research requests and assume other responsibilities as they arise

- Manage relationships with external vendors

- Advise staff and assist in professional growth development

- Evaluate staff performance and leadership, providing current, direct, complete and actionable positive and corrective feedback

- Oversee recruitment, hiring and retention of team staff

Qualifications :

- Post-graduate degree (MA, MS, MBA, PhD)

- 6+ years of strategy consulting or corporate strategy experience

- Strong analytical, detail-oriented, hypothesis-led mindset

- Ability to understand, integrate and synthesize primary and secondary data to form insightful observations and clear, actionable business implications

- Experience leading corporate strategy projects in a leading global corporation

- Experience communicating complex ideas/topics clearly and concisely in prose and PowerPoint

- Experience managing research vendors and clients

- Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands for resources

- Pleasant, easy-to-work with, amenable personality with a can-do attitude, a flat approach to team hierarchies, and an aptitude to stand up for what they believe is right
