TechnoServe - Head - Proposal & Program Development

- The Program Development (PD) team sits in the Mumbai office and leads in the design of new programs that will increase the reach and impact of TechnoServe India. The PD team is responsible for identifying funding opportunities; developing, leading and strengthening fundraising strategies and tactics; and responding to major contract/grant opportunities.

- The Head Program Development would provide support and guidance to TechnoServe's India office in the identification, design, and development of new business initiatives that support our mission and help us achieve our targets. We work closely with program development managers in each geographic region and country field offices to develop winning proposals with a range of public funders.

- The Program Development Specialist is a central part of the PD team and will play a key role business development and proposal management in helping to expand the organization's business solutions to poverty.

Role Description :

Specific tasks would include (but not limited to) :

- Write winning proposals: Work with project staff and regional leadership to design, write, and submit clear, concise and compelling proposals that result in funding for the organization.

- Develop concept notes and pitch documents that garner donor interest and lay the foundation for long-term partnerships.

- Ensure the full, final, compliant submission of complete proposal and appendices.

- Guide the proposal development process: develop and manage proposal calendars; facilitate kick-off and review meetings, develop the proposal outline with compliance guidelines.

- Support all aspects of proposal development, including coordinating complex efforts with dispersed proposal team members, drafting and updating organizational qualifications statements, editing and formatting technical proposals, drafting staffing and management sections, and supporting recon and capture efforts.

- Manage a team of program development professionals: Build internal capacity in new business development, ensure the adoption of best practices, provide support and mentorship to junior staff, and initiate quality assurance systems.

- Coordinate with TechnoServe's global Program Development and Strategic Initiatives teams to share intel and best practices, contribute to global initiatives, and collaborate on proposals.

- Contribute to improved efficiency and effectiveness of PD operations through knowledge management, including updating and expanding PD resources, tools, and processes.

- Actively cultivate new BD prospects: create and strengthen relationships with public and private donors; liaise with public sector funding agencies, institutional foundations, corporations and other private donors.

- Lead or support partner negotiations, manage partner inputs.

- Review and support the development of budgets

- Support recruitment and selection of candidates for proposal development positions.

IV. Required Skills & Experience :

Required Qualifications :

- A Post-graduate or Master's degree in business administration, economics, development communication, journalism or related academics from premier institutions.

- 9-12 years of post-graduate experience in analytical and strategic roles within the private sector and/or development spheres.

- Proven track record in successful program development design.

- Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills in a multi-cultural environment.

- The ability to work on short-term assignments with tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks and projects.

- The ability to work independently, and function effectively as a member of a global team, and adhere to strict deadlines.

- Excellent research and analytical skills.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

- Native fluency in English.

Prior experience working in India with in-depth knowledge of the agriculture sector, the corporate social responsibility space, or enterprise development would be added advantage.
