Analytics and the investment in the Big Data platform are crucial components in achieving the Vision, and as a result Global Asset Management are investing in their Analytic skills and capabilities.

We require a Data Analytics - Team Lead to assist with the migration of Analytics, Modelling and Business Intelligence to the new Group Data Architecture, Big Data Platforms, tools and technologies.

Key responsibilities include: Liaise with the global business teams, the Big Data Centre Of Excellence and the AMG Analytics Lead to deliver effective analytical solutions to meet their needs.

Principal Accountabilities: 


 Key activities and decision making areas

Deliver High Quality Insight from strategic data sources:

1. Manage and Lead a team developing analytical Information products to support strategic decision making

2. Development and Execution of Data profiling and Data Quality measurement solutions, Governance of critical data entities.

3. Leveraging of the Strategic Business Data Architecture to deliver High Quality Business Intelligence (2016+)

4. Build Machine Learning models to improve retention, new business acquisition, risk monitoring and global portfolio management.(2017+)

5. Work with key functions and Global teams to deliver analytics effectively;

6. Clearly and accurately articulating the definitions and governance principles to other analysts and business users;

7. Advise business users and other analysts on analytical techniques, tools and technologies;

8. Establish strong relationships with all stakeholders and ensure work is prioritised according to business need and opportunity.

Customers / Stakeholders

1. Support the adoption of Analytics & Business Intelligence based on the Strategic data sources in close collaboration with the Global Businesses, Business Data Architects and Business SMEs.

2. Build strong relationships with local business teams, IT and the Data Management Teams.

1. Build networks with key stakeholders and project personnel, creating an ability to deliver at pace.

2. Measure - Business partner satisfaction (internal) relating to delivery of Analytics and reporting.

Leadership & Teamwork

1. The role holder will work closely with a number of direct and indirect reports on a global basis and so will need to be able to work effectively remotely and across timezones.

2. The role holder will also be expected to achieve results through influence and persuasion as well as exercise direct authority.

3. The role holder will be managing a team of analysts, and will be expected to promote skills development, productivity and engagement.

1. Accurate understanding of Group Analytical capabilities and services;

2. Receive and action Business SME and GB/GF BDA feedback;

3. Employee feedback (360, Employee Satisfaction scores)

Operational Effectiveness & Control

1. Operate an effective small change process for the teams pipeline of work

2. Keep all Information Products well-formed and fully documented.

3. Obtain input and sign-off from Data Owners, Compliance, Risk, Legal and Information Security as required.

Major Challenges

1. Global nature of the Programme and resulting complexity of stakeholder management

2. Wide business scope of the Analytical content

3. Obtaining agreement/sign-off from multiple stakeholders based in multiple countries & jurisdictions.

Role Context

Management of Risk

Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimise the likelihood of it occurring. This includes its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with section 4 of the Group Operations FIM.

Observation of Internal Controls

The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

The jobholder will contribute to implementation of the Group compliance policy by understanding compliance risk in liaison with the relevant Compliance Department. The term - compliance- embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity.

Role Dimensions

The jobholder will be required to work within the overall framework of the Group Data Management Programme

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

Experience / Education

- SQL, R, Python, Data, Analytics, Visualisation (Tableau / QlikView)

- Analytics using Big Data technologies (e.g. Spark, HIVE)

- Experience as a Data Analyst in a regulated industry.

- Proven track record of creating and delivering Analytical Insight and Business Intelligence.

- Understanding of data modelling practices (E/R, Relational, Data Semantic, Conceptual)

- Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities

- Ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders

- Ability to bring analytical rigour and structure and effective solutions to poorly-defined problems

- Typical qualifications would include a Bachelor's degree / equivalent

- Experience working with senior stakeholders in a global environment is desirable
