Tata Motors - Manager/Senior Manager - Safety

Position Summary :

Management position in safety function responsible for sustaining and further strengthening safety management system in the plant. Requires risk identification skill and carrying out safety observations, audits and control unsafe situations, provide training, conduct incident investigation, liaison with government and other stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities :

- Advise and assist the factory management in the fulfillment of its obligations, statutory or otherwise concerning prevention of personal injuries and maintaining safe working environment

- Advise on safety aspects in all job studies, and to carry out detailed job safety studies of selected jobs

- Check and evaluate the effectiveness of the action taken or proposed to be taken to prevent accident

- Carryout plant safety inspections/observations in order to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices followed by the employees and to render advice on measures to be adopted for reducing the unsafe conditions and preventing unsafe practices

- Liaise with external agency like Factory Directorate, Explosive Deptt., Pollution Control Board, National Safety Council, DGFASLI etc.

- Design and conduct safety training either independently or in collaboration with others for the employees at all levels.

- Take the help of various techniques for identifying hazards and risk analysis.

- Be proactive and able to design, implement, sustain and improve the various Management System like OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 etc.

- Prepare and maintain data with respect to incidents, audit findings, safety observations, safety training etc.

- Promote, create and maintain employees- interest in safety.

- Carry out incident investigation to find out root causes and suggest remedial measures

- Have creative ideas for promoting and creating employees- interest in safety and implementation of same

Technical/ Functional competencies :

- Having fair knowledge about statutory requirements with respect to safety, health and environment

- Adequate experience in hazard identification and risk analysis technique

- Exposure in conducting SHE audits (ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18000)

- Ability to impart training

- Preference will be given to those having exposure to DuPont Safety Management System
