System Architect - Healthcare

Role

Responsible for evolving the architecture and creating top level designs that span Ultrasound solutions/ products across multiple projects.

Reporting to

Sector Head / BU Head

Direct Reports

Architects / Technical leads through a dotted line relationship /individual contributor role is also a possible scenario as an subject matter expert

Responsibilities and Key Result Areas

Projects

- Identify current and future competency needs of the group in Healthcare Ultrasound technology and lead the group’s competency development in this area

- Monitor the Software Development Process to ensure quality of project/program deliverables

- Participate in startup activities of new projects or customers from technical perspective – especially in Ultrasound solutions context

- Designs and describes the software architecture (world class level) of specific products

- Monitor software architectures and recommend ways and means of achieving synergy across projects or groups

- Scouts the environment to identify best practices, industry and technology trends and roadmaps of competition

- Is responsible for key technical decisions in the product program

- Is responsible for technology planning and forecasts.

Finance

Input to formulation of the budget plans of the BU.

Customer management

- Contributes to Customer Management in product line(BU/LoB)

- Ensures escalation in technical areas are handled effectively

People

- Recommends staffing needs of projects/programs

- Contributes towards the performance appraisal of the senior technical staff in the team

- Acts as a role model for other technical members in the group

- Plan for competency development in the group to match current and future needs of the group

Miscellaneous

- Plays an advisory role to the senior management of the Sector/BU on technical and organizational matters

- Ensures that there is good co-operation with other Sector's/BU

Accountability and Authorities

Accountability

- Responsible for the architecture/design of world class product program

- Makes all key technical decisions

- Accountable for specific deliverables

Authority

- Approving architecture and top level design documents

- release approvals in accordance with agreed quality standards

Decision Making

- Defines/Approves any architectural changes in the product

- Technical changes in the product software/ hardware

External Interfacing

- With Stakeholders for analyzing the requirements

- With Corporate Quality for audit.

Experience

- Substantial experience in Healthcare Ultrasound products architectural activities (System, Software , Hardware , all aspects)

- Experience in designing Ultrasound analog front end, signal processing algorithms, hardware platforms

- Ultrasound system integration, performance assessment

- Experience in technical management of product

- Experience in modern software engineering methods and processes (local & global level)

- Experience in translating Research generated proof of concepts into new product introduction ( in Ultrasound domain) will be a plus

Qualification

Graduate/Post graduate in Electronic Engineering/Software Engineering or Doctorate in the relevant field with required level of experience

Know-how

- Industry knowledge in terms of use of Ultrasound technology in Healthcare

- Has depth of knowledge in the Ultrasound imaging application domain

- Knowledge and experience in non imaging based ultrasound applications in healthcare setting will be a plus

- Has breadth of knowledge i.e., how decisions in one functionality will impact another functionality

- Familiar with current architecture of the Healthcare Ultrasound products

- Familiar with related industry knowledge e.g. US workstation, sensors probes, system modules, software tools

- Familiar with the Healthcare product creation process & relevant regulatory standards

- Has deep understanding of software engineering principles and concepts such as design patterns etc.

Skill Set

- Abstraction and analytical skills

- Excellent requirements analysis, elaboration, management, decomposition skills

- Excellent product &/ or feature proposal making skills

- Has worked on various languages and platforms

- Capable of decomposing complex problems

- Comfortable with many software technologies

- Good understanding of Software Project Management concepts

- Good coaching and mentoring, presentations skills
