About this Job :

Role Purpose :

To lead Demand Management & Planning in country

Connects interdepartmental information and data to drive informed business decisions that balance cost to serve, inventory risks and associated costs, business importance, customer needs and profitability to maximize the business return

Accountabilities :

Communicate Demand :

- Manage the decision and communication process surrounding constraints

- Manage out of cycle forecast adjustments in line with business rules

- Highlights risk for demand & supply imbalances (gap exposure and gap closure )

- Provide transparency of demand to ensure informed business decision in S&OP

- Facilitate Demand Review

Shape Demand :

- Influence the development of a collaborative/consensus forecast

- Facilitate agreement on forecast uncertainty (Events)

- Signal price optimisation opportunities

- Highlight and facilitate agreement on how to manage opportunities e.g. excess stock/capacity etc.

- Align Campaign Plans, Promotions with forecasts and manage Supply implications

Prioritize Demand :


- Facilitate agreement on allocations and ensure plans are implemented

- Coordinate substitutions in Demand Management processes

- Participate in development and evaluation of what if scenarios to resolve demand/supply imbalances

Associated business process

- Facilitate and coordinate forecasting process improvement initiatives

- Lead range review, manage product categorization, process segmentation and set rules for exception management

- Assist in development of replenishment strategies and objectives incl. customer service levels, inventory targets and safety stock levels

- Interface with Financial Forecasting, Budgeting, S&OP and Production & Supply

Set directions :

- Promotes and leads proficient use of demand sensing, demand shaping, - what if- forecasting techniques in alignment with strategic priorities

- Constantly seek forecasting process improvement

- Implements improvement initiatives in coordination with Global, Regional and Local Demand Planning and Sales Marketing functions

- Coordinates and implements the defined set of global forecasting KPIs

People Management :

- Manage the Demand Planning Team

- Annual Objective setting, monitoring and execution including Performance reviews

Critical Success Factors & Key Challenges

- Cross Functional Stakeholder Management

- Embedding and management of Forecasting Process

- Upside and Downside Forecast Management

- Integrate, develop and manage a new team to high performing and consistent standards

- Analysing and Interpreting market insight (competitor knowledge, channel inputs, drivers & assumptions) to support forecasting

Essential Knowledge & Experience :

Critical knowledge :

- 8-12 years experience of Demand Management & Planning

- Agricultural Industry Knowledge

- Sales forecasting & reporting tools

- Data analytics and interpretation

- Logistics and Distribution Planning

- Supply & Production Planning

- S&OP process

Critical experience :

- Product and Agricultural Knowledge

- Advanced Demand Management & Planning Knowledge

- Advanced S&OP (Sales & Operations planning) process knowledge

- Market drivers and assumptions knowledge

- Moderate Supply, Production and Logistics Knowledge

- Sales/Marketing experience preferred
