Title : Sr Analyst, Operational Risk

Role Summary/Purpose :

- The individual in this role will design and build analytical tools and techniques to drive risk management insights and enable risk leads to efficiently and effectively identify and manage operational risks. This will involve leading analytical and reporting projects, designing analysis, and plans to formulate recommendations.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities :

- Proactively look for and identify opportunities across Synchrony to construct and implement integrated risk monitoring solutions.

- Support the development and maintenance of risk metrics, data driven analysis, dashboards and visualizations.

- Partner with Operational Risk Oversight and first line teams, where necessary, to understand impacts from data shifts and recommend enhancements to data where data are currently not available. Track progress on action items.

- Interact & work with various functions like Fraud, Collections, Enterprise Operations etc., on key Ops Risk Analytical Projects

- Compile elements for Operational Risk profile reporting, including automation of key risk measures.

- Independently extract and analyze data from multiple systems/platforms and related data sources

- Leverage visualization to provide user friendly reporting and insight driven analysis.

- Provide analytical support to operational Risk team using ad-hoc analysis. Proactively look for and identify opportunities across Synchrony to construct and implement integrated risk monitoring solutions.

Qualifications / Requirements :

- Bachelor's Degree with 2+ Years of relevant experience

- 2+ years of work experience in an analytics role.

- Solid working knowledge of FDR, SAS, SQL, UNIX and Excel.

- Strong written/oral communication skills

- Good Operational knowledge of SYF business functions

- Ability to think through the Operational Procedures and pull relevant data from Data warehouses

- Proven ability to deliver Analytical solutions for Business problems

- Ability to deliver multiple projects simultaneously

- Proficient in Tableau desktop and Tableau server.

- Should not be on a performance improvement plan and formal corrective or above.

Desired Qualifications :

- Proven analytical skills with strong attention to detail and quality control of work product.

- Experience in financial services or banking industry with understanding of financial services regulatory environment.

- SAS, Python, SQL programs to perform data pull/manipulation, data mining, and creation of risk reports.

- Manage projects related to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of risk oversight.

- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

- Proven experience working in an ambiguous environment and creatively developing ideas and potential solutions.

- Excellent presentation and communication skills with proven experience interacting with all levels of the organization including explaining complex data clearly and concisely.

- Lead projects independently with little guidance while articulating key findings and communicate to Senior Leaders.

- Strong PC proficiency (Microsoft Suite, including: Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

- Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to foster relationships and create informal networks, both internal and external.

- Ability to quick gain deep understanding of key systems, tools and processes used across Synchrony.
