Job Description - Brand Manager

Company Information :

SugarBox is a first-of-its-kind platform in the world that empowers users without an internet connection to use Apps and enables Apps to work even in places with bad or no internet / network coverage.

We are working on making internet services more available, reliable, affordable, and contextual for everyone. Over the next 2 years, our goal is to transform the digital experience for millions of commuters, as well as digitally underserved / unserved masses, unlocking over 2.5 billion hrs of digital consumption, where otherwise Apps don- t work reliably, due to unstable or inexistent cellular connectivity. Apart from this, we also aim to help ISPs and other data service providers free up bandwidth by bringing high consumption services closer to the end consumer.

Position : Brand Manager

Location : Mumbai

Role Type : Individual contributor

- If you are an empath, constantly putting yourself in the consumers shoes; if you live, breathe, eat and sleep your BRAND; if you see ideas all around you, and in everything you read / listen to / watch / consume, you- re constantly thinking - what could this mean for my brand, this role may just be right for you.

- You'll be responsible for creating and building a customer centric brand. In doing so, you'll help manage Brand strategy, Marketing communication and Consumer research/Insights.

- We're looking for someone who cannot just make great decks, but also crunch some numbers.

- We're in the search for someone who understands consumers, at a micro and a macro level. Someone who wants to get under the skin of audiences they do not currently understand.

- We're looking for a prospector of consumer insight, who can then turn those nuggets into actionable brand behaviour.

- We are looking for someone who works well with a large, diverse team. 


- Someone who infuses energy in every conversation, someone who can find the silver lining on the darkest clouds. And, above all, someone who can deal with our - VUCA- world.

Brand Strategy & Communication (60%) :

- Stakeholder for managing brand health/brand preference while balancing short term tactics with a view on building out a strong consumer centric brand in the long term

- Strong project management skills with ability to engage productively with key stakeholders across Creative, Media, Content, product, research & insights teams

- Input into the strategic thinking on SugarBox as a brand across B2C and B2B verticals. Should be able to work on a cohort based analytical approach which segments customers and then build a targeting strategy

- Work with internal/external partners on brand development, input into the mass marketing budget and work with on-ground and digital teams to ensure the brand proposition is consistent across platforms

- Input in the Strategic Road Map for the category including Annual Operating Plans to support business objectives YOY

- Experience of running brand track, gleaning insights that can turn into meaningful messaging across ATL/BTL campaigns is a must

- Providing support to leadership and cross functional teams to successfully deliver outcomes

- Support on-ground, digital and partnership teams with creative throughput

Marketing Systems (20%) :

- Support the implementation of new products, partner campaigns while coordinating with partner marketing team / sales / technology teams

- Support the work streams on measuring for success. Document learnings, work towards replicating successes, and record short comings (for future optimization)

- Participate in brand market research projects to improve consumer understanding and identify consumer insights

Insights and Innovation (20%) :

- Day to day management of all brand innovation, new business initiatives including product/partner launches

- Support cross-functional teams (marketing and otherwise) with the regular creative output requirements

Key KPIs :

- Maintaining a healthy Brand Health Score

- Building Customer Loyalty and Brand Preference

- Responsible for delivering Marketing Objectives by category and across partner Brands

- Driving high-quality Monthly Active Users

Education Requirements :

- Bachelor's degree in Marketing / Advertising & Communications / Business Administration; MBA a plus

Experience and Skill Requirements - Must-haves :

- 5+ years of relevant brand marketing experience / communications agency experience

- Ability to turn a one-line business challenge into a coherent marketing brief is a must

- Good understanding of marketing strategies, hands-on experience of managing tactical initiatives

- A keen eye for detail and proven ability to multi-task, and manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

- Strong oral and written communication skills in English is an absolute must

- Experience of managing / working with creative/media agencies / teams is a must

- A track record of turning ideas into a strong creative vision

Experience and Skill Requirements :


- An understanding of traditional and digital media strategy and planning is a plus

- Experience working with a consumer- tech brand/FMCG/OTT/Telecom/New-age businesses or entertainment would be an advantage

- Ability to wear multiple hats - an analytical data driven marketer who can be creative in execution

- Proven track record using data-driven insights and translating into business-driving communication solutions
