Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Collections Legal Counsel to manage and oversee our collections activities and legal processes. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in a similar field, with a strong background in collections law, litigation, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage all legal aspects of the collections process, including but not limited to demand letters, negotiations, settlements, and litigation.

2. Provide legal guidance and support to internal collections teams, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

3. Review and draft legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and court filings.

4. Represent the company in legal proceedings related to collections matters, including court appearances, mediations, and arbitrations.

5. Develop and implement strategies to optimize collections processes and minimize legal risks.

6. Collaborate with external legal counsel and other stakeholders to resolve complex collections issues.

7. Stay informed about changes in collections law and regulations, and ensure company policies and procedures remain compliant.

8. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal matters related to collections.

9. Must possess knowledge of negotiable instrument act, civil suit, arbitration, section 62 of the conciliation act, lok adalat, EOW, reconciliation.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Law from an accredited institution; advanced degree (LLM) preferred.

2. 4-6 years of experience in collections law, with a strong background in litigation and regulatory compliance.

3. Excellent knowledge of collections laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other relevant statutes.

4. Proven track record of successfully managing collections processes and legal proceedings.

5. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

7. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

8. Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents.
