Reporting directly to the Business Head, the incumbent will be responsible for Consumer Healthcare business development through partnering, M&A, strategic alliances, new ideation etc.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will take sole responsibility of all Consumer Healthcare's business development, and as a part of this role, will:
1. Help develop a strategic roadmap for business with potential BD opportunities
This will involve:
- Landscape analysis with keen understanding of the environment
- Assess current capabilities and resources of business
- Mapping the analysis of market landscape and business capabilities with business strategy to zero in on suitable opportunities
- Assist the top management in determining the nature & direction of BD efforts required
2. Actively Scout for and bring to the table attractive and suitable BD opportunities
Responsible for generating all leads, including, but not limited to:
- New product ideas that go into the Innovation funnel
- Lateral thinking on other areas of innovation - Go to Market, New Channels, etc
- M&A
- Joint Ventures
- Strategic Alliances
- Customer Arrangements
- Agency Arrangements
- Financial Arrangements, etc.
- He / She will be expected to develop and maintain a thriving network to support timely identification of opportunities
- Act as liaison with external and internal parties towards the above.
He / She, will inter-alia, be expected to:
- Create appropriate material for reaching out to potential external parties
- Identify potential external partners with best fit for the business
- Initiate contact with potential external partners and continue to keep in touch with such parties, maintaining strong personal relationships and networks.
- Undertake evaluation / due diligence of the right fit of potential external partners
- Develop a business case and financial justification for the proposed BD opportunity
- Act as an information node carrying timely feedback for the Consumer Healthcare organization
Facilitate decision-making on BD opportunities:
- Consider various alternatives and evaluate the potential under each (eg. M&A, strategic arrangements etc.)
- Assess funding needs and financial impact of various alternatives
- Coordinate with stakeholders including - M&A team, Finance team and other relevant teams
- Bring to conclusion all BD opportunity decisions, ensuring adequate justification of the same
- Education & Experience Requirements:
Educational Background:
- Should hold an MBA from one of the top B-schools in India / abroad
Work Experience:
- 7-10 years of post MBA experience in BD roles in the Healthcare / FMCG space or from a PE / IB background with focus on the Healthcare /FMCG sectors
Key Skill-sets:
- Keen understanding and grip over the Indian market, particularly the consumer healthcare / retail / FMCG industry
- Ability to connect the dots across industries and across geographies to uncover latent opportunities
- Strong networking and PR skills
- Strong analytical skills - ability to evaluate opportunities with keen insight
- Strong grip over finance and numbers - ability to make and evaluate business case / financial case
