Teachers go through an initial two-year structured development journey where they gain exposure to key teaching principles and are supported to make tangible change in their classrooms. The networks continue after the two years and provide a mechanism for teachers to improve in other areas. We form a partnership with an education system (a state or country) for a period of approximately five years, during which existing officials in the system are closely trained and supported to run the teacher networks.   In its fifth year of operations STIR is working with 27,000 teachers and 1.1 million children. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of STIR's programmes for teachers and government officials across the state, ensuring the design of high quality training materials while working closely with colleagues in the programme team and government officials to ensure their effective delivery.   About the Role   DESIGN OF TRAINING MATERIALS FOR TEACHERS AND GOVERNMENT EDUCATION OFFICIALS  - Working closely with the national India Design and wider global Design teams, lead the design of training materials for teachers and government officials in Uttar Pradesh  - Work collaboratively with the global Associate Head, India Design team and government officials to ensure training materials are aligned with wider state education strategies, whilst remaining faithful to STIR's core programmatic principles  - Ensure that materials are culturally and linguistically appropriate for the Uttar Pradesh context  - Ensure materials are of a highly professional standard, well-written and error free  - Develop programme materials that are extremely high quality and easy to use  - Work closely with the programme teams and monitoring and evaluation teams to ensure that learning and feedback is taken into account in the design process, including the collection and analysis of relevant data  - Work with colleagues from the global Design team from across India, Uganda and London in addressing local educational issues from a global strategic perspective  PROMOTE EFFECTIVE DELIVERY OF TRAINING FOR TEACHERS AND EDUCATION OFFICIALS  - Deliver high quality training and development for programme teams to enable effective delivery of the STIR programme   - Model best practice in a variety of training areas, including facilitation and giving feedback  - Establish ongoing dialogue with the local programme team through regular, scheduled meetings to identify training needs  - Work closely with the regional primary and secondary programme leads to facilitate ongoing professional development initiatives to address training needs of programme managers  - Establish ongoing dialogue with the appropriate government officials to analyse the effectiveness of programme delivery, under the direction of the local programme leads and Design team  - Conduct field research to monitor the effectiveness of design materials on the ground, through attending teacher networks, institutes for government officials and boot camps for programme managers  - Promote a symbiotic approach to design and programme amongst programme managers  Required Skills & Experience   - At least two years- work experience working with an NGO in a programmatic or design capacity  - Strong identification with STIR values   - Strong understanding of the education system in Uttar Pradesh and the specific challenges faced by both teachers and government in improving educational outcomes for children  - Demonstrated passion for designing high quality educational materials  - Demonstrated interest in and understanding of pedagogical principles (for example, through experience as a teacher)  - Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and influence others  - Understanding of principles that promote behaviour change of teachers and government officials  - Strong attention to detail and ability to see things through to a very high standard  - Excellent writing skills - especially able to write clearly and succinctly in English, and preferably also in Hindi  - Excellent facilitation skills  - Ability to learn and adapt rapidly based on feedback and new information  - Very strong ability to work across functions and collaborate effectively  - Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment  Application Process   Please email your CV and a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role to both John McIntosh and Ilisha Nigam with the subject line as - Application for Senior Programme Manager, Design UP- .
