Sr Software Development Manager

MNC is seeking Software Development Managers for its online monitoring teams based in their Bangalore Development Centers.

The online monitoring team builds systems that collect product information from a variety of sources with a charter to ensure that our customers can rely on us for the best price. The team works on some of the most challenging technical problems - like building and running large-scale real-time distributed systems, web services, extracting structured-data from unstructured-content, problems in information retrieval domain, building specialized state-of-the-art browse automation infrastructure, etc.

A successful candidate will have an established background in building highly scalable systems and system design, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. The leader we are looking for will bring proven experience building, managing, focusing, and mentoring engineering teams. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals. Experience with building and operating web-based applications and/or web services-based applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates for this role must have:

- A deep understanding of software development in a team, software development methodologies and scheduling, a track record of shipping software on time, services development, and people management to this high-accountability role.

- Strong technical credentials, with at least 5 years leading or managing software development teams, ideally with hands-on architectural or distributed systems experience

- Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate proven technical leadership.

- Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent strongly preferred

- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.

- Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment.

- Development Expertise in OOP, Java, UNIX, Perl, C++, XML, Web services, and UNIX tools.

Preferred Qualifications

- Masters degree in Computer Science or the equivalent strongly preferred

- Large scale distributed systems experience is a plus

- Mobile development experience (e.g. Android applications, iOS applications)

- Effective communications skills - can present to executive team

- Can quickly build technical credibility

- Smart about choosing between fast and right
