Sr Research Associate - Journalism

Senior Associate Research (2-5 years in development research/journalism preferred)

Intellecap seeks a team member to be part of our Knowledge and Information Services team, which provides high-quality research to facilitate and direct Business, Investment and Support decisions for market-oriented approaches creating a positive social and environmental impact on people at the Base of the Economic Pyramid (BOP):

Position: Senior Associate

Location: Mumbai, India

Experience/Education:

- Post graduation in Journalism, Economics/Development or its equivalent;

- Knowledge of the social enterprise sector and/or development sector, innovative business solutions addressing needs at the BoP;

- 2-5 years prior experience in development journalism preferred

Skills:

- Excellent analytical, research and writing skills;

- Ability to meet multiple deadlines to meet the reading needs of an online, global audience;

- Is comfortable with online modes of content delivery, including blogs, newsletters, social media, Web 2.0, etc.

- Ability to report news in real-time, write in-depth, analytical feature stories; and, express opinions on varied business topics;

- Ability to generate ideas for new areas to research and explore in different sectors of interest for Intellecap, in the social enterprise space;

- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance;

- Ability to engage with stakeholders, practitioners in the sector in person and remotely;

- Ability to work with a global, multi-cultural team of professionals.

Responsibilities:

- Write news, features, op-eds, research papers etc;

- Design surveys, studies, and data creation;

- Assist in disseminating online content to a global audience using Web 2.0 tools;

- Contribute to proposal writing and other business development work as required;

- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed, to conduct primary research and dialogue with stakeholders, as needed.
