Network Development Engineer Sr.Manager

- Candidate will be a member of the Protocols/ Network development team and will be working in defining the architecture and design for Layer-2 and Layer-3 protocols infrastructure software on the Next Generation Platform.

- Experienced architecting, design and development of L2 (LACP, STP, TRILL etc.) and L3 (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, VRF, VPN) protocols, with strong focus on the scalability and robustness of the implementation.

- Should have good exposure to implementation and debug aspects of IP protocols.

- Should be aware of all the recent trends in these protocols and the discussions and directions in related standard bodies like IETF, IEEE etc.

- Should have strong knowledge of the routing table implementation on NetBSD kernel and HW interface for the L2/L3 tables and be able to suggest proper architecture for Hardware/Software boundaries and be able to architect high performance and scalable routing modules in terms of protocols and hardware table handling.

- Must have 12+ years of experience in designing and developing switch/router software, preferably as technical lead in last 4+ years.

- 12-15 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Understanding of networking hardware and software system architecture.

- Good understanding of Layer-2 protocols such as xSTP/VLAN/LACP/SMLT.

- Excellent C programming skills.

- Understanding of Layer-2 or Layer-3 forwarding using vendor chipsets required.

- Understanding of Network System architecture, design and operation.

- Understanding of networking hardware and software interactions, and able to apply this understanding to resolve issues.

- Able to easily achieve mastery of new tools, product features, networking technologies and development processes.

- Proficient in the use of traffic generation equipment, packet sniffers and similar tools to assist in root-cause analysis of issues.

- Able to communicate effectively with customers to gather critical information needed to resolve either their network/configuration issues or internal product issues.

- MS or PhD in computer science is preferable.
