Sr. Manager- Research & Development Specialist

Basic Job Purpose:

Job purpose:

Apply operations research and data analysis techniques to solve challenging business and supply chain problems.

- The project portfolio will impact all aspects of company's business, including on-site, merchant liquid, packaged gases, specialty gases and hard goods.

- Project opportunities will include but are not limited to supply chain and logistics optimization, business optimization, risk analysis, revenue management, and business analytics.

- The candidate will be asked to combine an understanding of a business problem with data based or mathematical algorithm based decision making to significantly impact operating profits.

Work scope:

- The candidate will be involved in technology development programs from concept initiation through commercialization, and be expected to work closely with the local operations and business organization, as well as the corporate R&D and global operation teams in the US.

- As a result, he/she will need to work with process owners for problem definition, develop credible business cases for new technology programs, actively participate in the technical development, and lead multi-disciplinary project execution teams.

Responsibilities:

- Involved in technology development programs from concept initiation through commercialization, and be expected to work closely with the business organization globally

- Solve challenging business problems such as supply chain management (SCM), advanced planning & scheduling (APS), decision management, demand management, revenue optimization, network optimization and asset / inventory optimization by applying analytics and operations research techniques

- Work closely with the local operations and business organization to develop innovative technical solutions that best meet business needs

- Lead multi-disciplinary project execution teams

Education & Experience:

- PHD/Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred), Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Operations Research and 3-4 years of relevant experience.

- 1-3 years R&D or engineering experiences in advanced optimization, statistics and data analysis / mining

- Priority will be given to candidates with industrial experience in applying optimization and analytics to solve business problems;

- Experience in optimization architecture development & discrete, continuous & event time mathematical linear and/or mixed integer formulation development is preferred.

- Knowledge of innovation / problem solving skills (such as six sigma, lean tools), benchmarking & benefit estimation is preferred.

- Must be able to interface with internal business partners, external vendors and customers from a variety of cultures and business backgrounds;

- Self-directed individual with good interpersonal and communication skills;
