Senior Manager, Category Product Management - for a "dotcom" team

Organisation endeavors to create a starting point for online shopping in India. The site organizes selection from over 1000+ seller websites across categories such as electronics, apparel, footwear, accessories, books, movies, music, kitchen and home appliances, toys, baby products, sports, health, beauty, and more.

On this eComm platform, customers can discover over 1.8 crore products from over 1000+ seller websites, compare offers across these sites and choose where to shop. The electronics selection on this platform, features brands such as Samsung, HTC, Nokia, Dell, HP, Sony, Canon, Nikon, and more.
The apparel and accessories section has selection from brands such as Adidas, Allen Solly, Benetton, Levi's, Titan, and Fabindia, to name a few. Customers can also browse products from designer brands such as Armani, Tag Heuer, Tissot, and Satya Paul.

In the books, movies, and music sections, customers can choose from a wide selection across English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, and a host of other languages. Also available are kitchen and home appliances from LG, Philips, Morphy Richards, Godrej etc.

Customers can compare and purchase products from other seller websites, aided by product information, as well as product reviews and ratings from other users. Customers can choose to buy products online by visiting a seller's site or can alternatively find a shop location or a phone number for the seller in the seller information section on each product page.

The site has been designed to make it easy for customers to search for products online, compare products and offers across different seller websites to get the best deal, and save while shopping online, by adding selection every day and are relentlessly focused on making it easier for customers to find, discover, compare and shop for anything using our service.

Senior Manager, Category Product Management role is a key leadership role responsible by heading a 15-20 member category management team. The category management team owns the end-to-end responsibility for defining strategic direction and driving operational performance of categories launched here. We are looking to hire a strong leader with a track record of managing large teams and delivering results in fast-paced, evolving environments. Candidate must be comfortable in taking on ambiguous problems, making data-driven business decisions, setting bold organizational direction and influencing change across a broad array of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities include:

- People Leadership: Build and manage a high performance team of category product managers, site merchandisers and analysts to drive operational performance and strategic direction for all launched categories which span Electronics, Softlines, Media, Hardlines and Consumables.

- Thought Leadership: Identify whitespaces for this site to grow; create compelling data driven business cases to drive buy-in with senior leadership; manage implementation and go-to-market initiatives for launching new category experiences.

- Operational Leadership: Partner with Business Development, Marketing, Operations and Technology teams. Continuously grow product catalog, enhance customer experience, and drive scale and efficiencies in customer acquisition and retention. Define and manage calendar of merchandising and marketing initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

- BS/B.Tech/BE required; MBA preferred

- 10+ years of experience

- Proficient in Excel and Access, or similar database

- Experience in consulting and/or retail/consumer products industries preferred

- Proven track record of leading teams and being a change agent

- Proven track record taking ownership and driving results

- Proven analytical skills and highly comfortable with numbers

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing and speaking skills

- Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects with cross-functional teams

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large scale initiatives - work prioritization, planning and task delegation
