The country program in India focuses on three thematic areas, namely development of value chains (specifically agricultural value chains); development of entrepreneurship (specifically socially relevant businesses) and innovative partnership models for enhancement of livelihood opportunities for the poor. It is an exciting period for the country program as we set up our Indian entity and look for expansion of our programs and coverage across the country.

Job Description for Sr. Manager – Horticulture value chain development Bihar/Mumbai

Title: Sr. Manager (Horticulture value chain - Bihar)

Description:

The position would work on developing the horticulture value chain in Bihar. Specific tasks would include:

- Leading strategy development for TechnoServe to sustainably develop the horticulture value chain (primary focus will be fruits, e.g. Litchi) and establishing viable business model

- Conducting diligence, doing gap analysis and leading program designing

- Supporting donor relationship both nationally and internationally

- Cultivating new relationships, developing the ecosystem for the value chain and partnerships, especially private sector partnerships on processing and market linkages

- Liaising with Government Bodies, local NGOs

- Working with the country team and development division of TechnoServe globally to prepare high quality learning documents for replication of the intervention model in other geographies

Requirements

- Candidate should have minimum of 10 years experience in social development, specifically agri-business or entrepreneurship promotion field.

- Proven track record / experience of leading a multidisciplinary team, facilitating private sector partnerships on agribusiness programs and delivering results, specific experience in perishable fruits sector will be highly desirable.

- Should possess excellent analytical skills and, communication skills both written and oral

- Candidate should possess good understanding on global agribusiness development space, and priority areas.

- Candidate should be flexible to travel extensively

- Experience of leading/working in Government projects

- Work experience in Bihar would be a plus

Qualification:

- Master’s degree in business, agribusiness management or International Development with relevant prior experience
