Senior Manager - Operations and Strategy - Management consulting-IIT-B.tech only

Turing is having an exponential growth in our engineering talent and customer base. Our customer needs are increasingly diverse, and so is the complexity of acquiring engineers based on their needs. We are looking for a Senior Talent Operations Manager (STOM) to scale our talent acquisition to the next level.

As the STOM, you will be responsible for building and executing a data-driven strategy to acquire hundreds of vetted candidates a month while meeting the speed and quality expectations of our customers. Your strategic and analytical thinking and ability to empathize with engineers will be critical in optimizing the end-to-end talent pipeline, from submitting resumes to taking automated tests and technical interviews to helping them get matched for jobs.

The STOM will get to define KPIs and have autonomy over a wide range of talent operations, including but not limited to:

1. Optimizing the talent funnel with data scientists so that senior engineers can sign up, take all required tests and interviews, and join Turing's vetted pool of engineers in the shortest amount of time possible.

2. Move senior engineers through the funnel via persuasive emails, text messages, WhatsApp messages, etc. that speak to their motivations. We have built a system to enable this for you. You will have the opportunity to use this system and reach out to them in an automated, recurring manner.

3. Work with 20+ Talent Operations members (technical interviewers and vetting operations) to drive the organization forward.

In terms of career growth, here's why this role is exciting:

1. We want this STOM to grow and become a cross-functional operations leader at the company.

2. As our talent acquisition expands, the STOM will hire new OMs and ICs and create new teams.

3. Since our pre-seed days, we have been able to attract product, engineering, sales, and data science leaders from top players in the industry, such as Facebook, Google, Uber, Capgemini, and Stanford University. With our hypergrowth, we are in talks with many more. The STOM will have the opportunity to learn from and grow with an incredibly talented team.

Must-Have Requirements:-

1. Engineer empathy & technical background - Degree in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/ ECE/ related computing field from IIT only OR you worked as a software engineer.

2. Since our - product is the world's top engineers, the STOM must understand What makes a great engineer and their motivation, Where many of those engineers are located & the Challenges of global engineers working remotely with US companies.

3. A high-level understanding of popular tech stacks - such as React+Node and React Native is critical to acquiring the right types of engineers.

4. Make data-driven decisions - Define and drive key metrics for customer growth. The STOM must have a proven record of creating meaningful KPIs rather than merely following industry best practices, many of which are vanity metrics and don't neatly apply when we are pushing the edge of innovation.

5. The STOM must be able to dive deeply into data (pull and analyze more data until he/she can make sense of it in the business context), Write simple SQL queries when data scientists are unavailable, Diagnose root causes in funnels & Define success metrics for new processes.

6. Copywriting - Optimize the funnel via persuasive emails, text messages, WhatsApp messages, etc. that empathize with senior software engineers- motivations and screen out junior engineers.

7. Cross-functional leadership - Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design, Data Science, Sales, and Marketing for successful process improvements, STOM will need to clearly communicate priorities and set the right expectations with those teams while being fun to work with.

8. Hands-on - Turing's leaders are expected to - get their hands dirty.- Turing is a startup, and so there will be gaps and some things will be poorly executed. This person will need to roll up his/her sleeves and bridge the gap.

9. Move fast and be comfortable breaking things - Turing moves fast. Teams routinely launch big experiments that may break the funnel and KPIs. We expect everyone to launch ambitious experiments optimizing for long-term growth and be comfortable with things breaking in the short-term.

10. Self-starter with a growth mindset and positive attitude - Proactively seek out improvement opportunities in operations and product. Reach out for user feedback. Let's have fun building things together.

11. People management - The STOM must have a proven track record in hiring, growing, and managing Operations team members.

Nice-to-Have:

1. Interest in building products - Many key product features haven't been built yet. The STOM will have the opportunity to work with PMs to build product features to improve operations efficiency and drive talent acquisition KPIs at scale.

2. Experience working on job requirements - Being able to understand our customers- job requirements (i.e. what do they actually want) and translating them into a scalable process would allow you to be an effective cross-functional leader.

3. You will be able to work with the sales, matching, and data science teams for this.
