Senior Research Analyst - Power & Utilities

Job responsibilities

The professional needs to research, analyze, write, and contribute to the development of thought leadership in P&U and AE industry. The professional will be required to:

- Demonstrate solid P&U and AE industry knowledge and basic understanding of oil and gas (O&G) sector

- Exhbit strong understanding of the U.S. market and industry dynamics (including regulatory).

- Coordinate with researchers in mining data and insights (including M&A).

- Structure, organize and synthesize information to develop key insights.

- Provide research support in designing research proposal and formulating research plan.

- Apply established research tools and methodologies to support business decision-making.

- Write sections of reports targeted at the executive audience based on insights and findings from the studies.

- Conduct in-depth, complex data analysis to form or validate the hypotheses.

- Demonstrate strong writing and engaging presentation skills.

The key skills required are as follows:

- Prior exposure to business research in P&U and AE industry (research experience in O&G sector would be an added advantage).

- Experience in one or more of the following research methods: Forecasting/simulation, text analysis, regulatory review, M&A analysis, case studies and caselets, and social media research

- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Exposure to working in teams, including virtual teams.

- Knowledge of online databases like Bloomberg, SNL, EnergyAcuity, Hoovers, Factiva, One Source, Thomson, etc.

- Highly developed personal and professional ethics.

- An ability to build professional relationships, a spirit of co-operation, and a flexible approach to work are required.

- Experience in working with US clients is a plus. Since the job requires significant coordination with US colleagues, the ability to network with US counterparts is important.

Specific skill set required:

Prior exposure to business research in power and utilities (P&U) and alternative and renewables (AE) industry

Knowledge of MS Office with strong skills in MS PowerPoint and MS Excel

Strong communication and analytical skills

MBA/PGDBM from a reputed business school
