Job Title : Senior SMART DATA Manager, Amazon Global for Beauty & Personal Care

Location : Mumbai

ROLE PROFILE :

Reports to : SMART DATA Director

Business Context and Job Summary :

Consumers increasingly shop in an Omni channel environment in which online sales impact offline and vice versa. In this world, Company's e-commerce sales will depend heavily on influencing shoppers to start shopping online (i.e., grow category penetration), shop more frequently, make larger purchases, and to buy from a broader array of Company's categories. Rich e-com data gives vivid insights into shopper behaviour e.g. pages visited, other purchases, time spent on Web sites, cart abandonment. Self-ordering through IoT / Voice and newer fulfilment models like drone delivery, prescheduled delivery are adding even more complexity and richer data.

About half of all purchase decisions are digitally influenced. The ability to link any digital moment right through to purchase in the Connected World, means that data becomes key to unlocking new growth opportunities. CPG players with strong data partnerships with retailers are already making strong shopper connections, improving margins and increasing conversions.

The objective of the Amazon SMART DATA initiative is to enable Company's business teams to create a mutually profitable and high-growth business with ecommerce players.

This role is within the SMART DATA team for Beauty and Personal Care based in Mumbai, India

This is a great opportunity for someone, who wants to be a part of an aggressive data-driven growth agenda for Beauty and Personal Care. The team will be leveraging latest capabilities of machine learning, Robotic process automations and Artificial Intelligence to make a big impact and leave a positive legacy for Company. The successful candidate will have a proven background in retail analytics, digital media, campaign evaluation and strategic thinking.

Key Responsibilities :

As SMART DATA manager, you will lead and embed insightful, action-oriented capabilities for assisted and predictive decision making. You must have a passion, proven credentials of driving - data driven- growth and are able to get into the details of the analysis. The manager will manage and work closely with a team of business analysts and data scientists.

Skills :

- The manager would be a motivated and experienced analytics individual with a passion for beauty and personal care and ecommerce. At least 9-10 years of analytics experience in business, consulting and analytics roles focussed on CPG retail, ecommerce and digital media. MBA from Top Institute preferred.

- The manager must have an excellent understanding of analytical processes including but not limited to data management, forecasting, optimization, predictive modelling, and visualization. Appreciation of machine learning is a must.

- End to end understanding of ecommerce shopper journey - demand creation through media, demand capture, winning portfolio and demand fulfilment.

- Has shown adaptability to changing environments and demonstrates flexibility in juggling priorities

- Proven experience in influencing the strategic agenda and senior leaders.

- In the past has worked with analytics agencies, internal business teams to deliver analytics capabilities for business teams

- Good understanding of financial metrics, ROI and promo evaluations

- Working understanding of IT data warehousing and data sources along with experience in marketing automation.

- Working knowledge of digital media, search ranking and optimization factors, key algorithms, SEO analysis

How & when will they connect with their key stakeholders? What will be the ways of working for this person?

- Global e-com Directors of Sales & Marketing & PC ( Scott/ Aditi/ Claire)

a. Global directors will steer the global business & market priorities on analytics through quarterly connects. Scott will have a voice in the work plan.

b. Global Beauty and Personal Care eCommerce leadership

c. Connects through Claire to build belief half yearly with PC directors / managers

- Ecommerce Country heads

a. Sharing progress and establish up bi-monthly review forums on data

b. Embed Amazon Analytics suite in markets

- Amazon Key Account Teams across countries

a. Work with the account teams to drive data cataloguing, access automate insights (on an ongoing basis), measure business performance, diagnose.

b. Single point contact for Amazon account team in (keys markets only) for all things data & insight automation.

There are two aspects to the roles :

1. Managing a complex org with multiple point of contacts

2. Being conversant with e-com analytics and there are very few at that intersection.

What does success look like in year 1?

- Embed and Train existing analytics suite in markets with the Global Amazon team

- Create 2 scalable solutions to enable

1.fact based selling

2.spot and unlock growth opportunities [ Work in partnership with markets, I&A and IT ]

- Becoming Authority on the Amazon Data ecosystem and contents across 3-4 key markets

Where would such candidates be available?

- Consultancies - which are working in the ecommerce analytics

- Leaders within Amazon / Walmart/ Target analytics offices in India

Location is Mumbai ( Given SMART DATA team + Amazon India team is based) - relocation to Mumbai is a must

What is the balance between deep data scientist Versus key influencer through data. More a key influencer through data - who understands business challenges and is able to craft solutions.

The manager will be supported with I&A, IT, 3P on solutions & platforms and data.
