Senior Manager/GM - Structural Engineering - Real Estate

EM.E / M.Tech in Civil / Structural Engineering from a reputed institute; any other relevant diploma that would be an added advantage is preferred

Years of experience : 12 - 16 years

Industry preference : Residential Real Estate development in a corporate environment with experience of working on 3-4 different types of structural design

Desired skills : Experience in optimizing structural design and value engineering for Residential real estate development or construction projects like Multi-storey buildings, Pre-Engineered buildings, Villas, Infrastructure Works etc. essentially in a corporate environment; Proficiency in software like ETABS, STAAD Pro, RCDC; BIM Expertise

- Lead the structural engineering activities as part of the central team

Review structural drawings and designs made by the external structural consultants across all projects

Monitor and guide day to day activities of structural consultants to ensure timely delivery of design deliverables

Plan and oversee construction of new projects and address structural issues at appropriate project stages

Capture the learning from engineering exercise across projects and ensure implementation in the upcoming projects through a robust structural DBR

Pre-design phase

- Evaluate, select and define scope of structural consultants

Maintain pre-qualified list of structural consultants across regions

Select structural consultants and peer review consultants as per the city and segment of the project

Define scope of work of external consultants across all projects

Design Phase

- Review the output of the external structural consultants across the design phases

Review structural designs and DBR and ensure effective co-ordination to produce the most optimized solution

Monitor and review records of material consumption provided by structural consultants to ensure optimized material consumption

Review the mathematical structural models (ETABS/SAFE) created by the structural consultants

Track the deliverables of the consultants across each design stage to avoid delays

- Provide structural engineering technical expertise during design development

Ensure code compliance and check structural capability of the design across stages

Coordinate with other departments (projects, quality, safety) for cost & quality requirements of the project

Ensure structural designs adhere to structural efficiency guidelines laid down

Ensure accuracy and timely availability of structural drawings by adopting SOPs framed for efficient design management

Coordinate the structural drawings with the architectural and MEP drawings

Ensure the structural drawings conform to the regulatory standards

- Develop and implement effective value engineering strategies to achieve acceptable budget variations across all design stages

Review quantities and recommend structural cost reduction options in coordination with the Projects team

Advise on material selection, methodologies adopted, phases, construction joints, excavation sequences, retrofitting issues, etc.

Construction Phase

- Monitor the on-site construction activities to ensure adherence to the approved structural design during execution

Co-ordinate with construction execution teams regarding constructability issues and provide technical solutions

Ensure quality and safety standards are adhered to (in association with the Quality and safety teams)

Review mix designs, usage of fly ash, usage of various types of steel reinforcements, structural steels, material testing maintained by QA/QC team

Review various advanced technical issues of concrete and reinforcement

Suggest and implement new technologies to facilitate better structural designs
