Job Description :

Title : Sr. Manager - Enterprise Risk

Job Purpose :

- Support the Head of Enterprise Risk in the Risk Management Policy framework development and attestation; Risk reporting and support the Head of Risk Management in managing the Enterprise and Operational Risk team within the Risk team.

Responsibilities :

Enterprise Risk provides the business with risk based information to enhance and support decision making and facilitate controlled risk choices. The function covers enterprise risk roles focused on the infrastructure required across the organisation to support sound risk management practices as well as two areas of expertise - Risk Management Policy framework development and attestation; Risk reporting

Key responsibilities :

- Support the development, implementation and embedding of the policy framework, aligning the Group Policies, Operating Standards, UK&E policies and business standards, ensuring consistency with organization's risk appetite, and its obligations under applicable regulatory frameworks (including those of the PRA and FCA) and organization's strategic/ tactical plans

- Manage the implementation of changes to Group policies, working with Risk function and the Business Areas to ensure the effective implementation of the changes, providing second line of defence oversight.

- Conduct an annual review of the UK&E policies to ensure they are aligned to the Group policies and operating standards,

- Develop an appropriate suite of management information and management and Board reports, sufficient to demonstrate the appropriateness of organization's UK's apportionment and oversight of responsibilities and the adequacy of systems and controls.

- Maintain oversight on the Risk reporting for the Risk function and support the evolution of Risk reporting

- Support preparation of papers i.e. revised Risk framework, Risk policies and UK&E policies for approval to relevant Committees and Management, as directed by the Head of Enterprise Risk

- Assess the effectiveness of the controls in place to implement the policies through the annual attestation, Risk review, monitoring, deep dives or thematic reviews and ensure appropriate coverage of the Group and UK&E policies in the annual policy attestation, reporting on the status to the Head of Enterprise Risk

- Create good working relationships with stakeholders across the different verticals in Risk and the business

- Support Enterprise risk projects and initiatives as required

- Manage Risk professionals within Enterprise and Operational Risk within organization's Risk

- Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory and business issues impacting self-certification.

- Use of regulatory knowledge, business understanding and expert judgement, to quickly identify underlying issues and escalate issues, where appropriate

- Ensure understanding and adherence to organization's Code of Conduct and, where appropriate, comply with all relevant regulatory policies. This includes completion of any mandatory training requirements

- Work with colleagues across locations within the Risk function and the wider Business to ensure that organization's UK and its subsidiaries operate within an effective governance framework

Compliance : To understand and adhere to organization's Code of Conduct and, where appropriate, comply with all relevant regulatory policies. This includes completion of any mandatory training requirements.

Competence / Knowledge / Skills required :

Education And Professional Qualifications Necessary :

- Chartered Accountancy/MBA specialising in Finance/Risk Management

Experience / Knowledge / Skills required :

- Minimum of 11 years- experience in a Risk/Audit function within a financial institution with focus on internal controls, risk framework, policies and operational risk

- Demonstrable track record of writing policies, ensuring effectiveness of the policies and corresponding implementation

- Detailed knowledge of business risk and control frameworks and how these map to evolving regulatory Requirements

- Good understanding of regulatory, compliance environments and regulated marketplace and position of organization's within that market

- Good knowledge of Insurance products, systems and distribution methods

Skills :

- Excellent analytical skills in order to identify key themes, suggest solutions and deliver on opportunities

- Excellent partnership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to successfully navigate a complex organisation as well as build strong relationships and work collaboratively with teams across the business

- Demonstrated ability to operate remotely, in a diverse and multi-cultural environment. International work or consultancy exposure would be a definite plus

- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

- Ability to quickly learn and assimilate key processes and procedures

- Ability to analyse business requirements and regulations, highlighting key considerations or new requirements

- Confidence to challenge appropriately, escalating as required.

- Enquiring and persistent approach

- Excellent interpersonal skills - involving liaison across the organisation with key personnel, influencing others to deliver to deadlines and guiding them on specific requirements

- Excellent report writing, written and oral communication skills (Face to face and via the telephone or video-conference)

- Ability to manage conflicting objectives and work to pressured deadlines

- Ability to make quick independent decisions based on logical thought processes

- Good organisation and logistical skills
