Hiring for a bank

Purpose of the role:

To build a state of the art Regulatory Reporting Unit that complies with all the requirements of the RBI, provides analytical views on the RBI data to management decisions and is executed with efficient data systems for timely and accurate reporting

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning:

- Contributing to the development of the institute overall regulatory compliance strategy and objectives. Adhere to regulatory requirements and maintain the integrity of its financial reporting processes.

- Monitor/ oversee adherence to budget / funding plan and ensure the function maintains required financial health.

- Provide insights and recommendations to top management on regulatory implications of strategic business decisions.

Policies, Processes & Procedures:

- Monitor and ensure implementation of approved policies, processes, and procedures to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled manner and in compliance with established guidelines.

- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures considering leading practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

- Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures.

- Stay abreast of changes in regulations for the banking industry.

Statutory Reporting & Fixed Assets Accounting:

- Validate and timely submit requisite financial information/ratios with various regulatory bodies to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance.

- Understand and interpret the RBI circulars and guidelines and give relevant inputs to management for compliance of the same.

- Achieve timely payments to different vendors and employee reimbursements while ensuring tax compliance in line with established guidelines.

- Undertake various initiatives to improve current reporting processes and drive various automation projects to enhance data accuracy and quality reporting.

Compliance & Audit:

- Gather required approval from RBI for all capital instruments to help the bank maintain a strong capital base while supporting its growth and stability.

- Liaise with RBI and other regulators for various reporting requirements and ensure timely closure of requests/inspections.

- Ensuring the institution's compliance with relevant financial regulations

- Providing support during regulatory audits and examination, ensuring that all requested information and documentation are readily available and accurate

Risk and Internal Control:

- Manage operational risk and proactively address any potential audit issues in the concerned area to ensure compliance and minimize operational disruptions.

- Implement robust measures to mitigate operational loss and error, thereby fostering a culture of excellence and achieving the goal of zero incidents and optimal operational efficiency.

- Conduct thorough testing and diligently implement the Business Continuity Plan in strict adherence to the bank's policy, ensuring seamless operations and preparedness for any potential disruptions.

- Facilitate the timely and accurate preparation and submission of regulatory and internal management/board reports, ensuring the provision of comprehensive and reliable information for informed decision-making and regulatory compliance.

People Management:

- Champion the organization's values within the team, encouraging a collaborative and innovative work environment.

- Instill a culture of continuous development and high performance within own team.

- Participate in recruitment activities & ensure retention / engagement of own team.

- Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate / appraise team members and provide regular feedback & guidance.

- Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities.

- Evaluate training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for learning interventions
