Senior Leadership - Operations Management - MNC Our Client is engaged in manufacture of industrial and medical gases and construction of cryogenic and non-cryogenic air separation plants. They are looking for a senior professional for "Operations Management " as per given below Job Description. Purpose of the position : This position will be responsible for reviewing overall Safety, Efficiency, Reliability, Quality, Digitalization, Planning and Productivity involved in Distribution Operation of Bulk, PGP & ESG Products and provide necessary expertise & guidance to regional / country teams to ensure compliance to all external and internal requirements and develop a cost-efficient culture. Principal responsibilities : 1. Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ): - Accountable for overall transport safety & quality performance and statutory compliance - Lead distribution safety programs to improve safety statistics of the region - Launching new campaigns & initiatives to enhance safety culture - Direct involvement in the Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis - Responsible for implementation of corrective & preventive action across country - Effective utilization of resources in upbringing of safety culture at Country level - Safety & Functional trainings for Country Distribution team - Ensure the audit compliance of SHEQ/Statutory standards - Accountable for closure of assessments findings (CAR) and compliance - Must have clear understanding of Management of Change (MOC) and any change to existing design or process must be taken through a series of reviews as per company protocol. - Working towards achieving region's safety goal - Ensuring the implementation & governance of programs (few mentioned below), and necessary actions are being taken for improving the performance - Route Risk Assessment (RRA) and Customer Site Dynamic Risk Assessment (CSDRA) - Reward & Reprimand policy - Zero Tolerance Act - Driver Risk Profiling - Driver Coaching Program - Transport Contractor Performance Assessment - Monthly Safety Meetings - Hours of Service (HoS) Compliance 2. Distribution Operation: - Works closely with multiple functions like Plant Operations team, Sales & Business team, Supply Chain functions, Safety, and constantly monitoring & controlling distribution performance with respect to key deliverables - Safety, Efficiency, Statutory Compliance, Reliability, Quality & Productivity without any non-compliance - Ensuring Distribution meet its yearly plan (at a country and regional level) - Developing effective programs for taking overall performance to the next level - Optimum utilization of resources - Manpower - right allocation as per business volume & other constraints - Machines (trucks/trailers/equipment) - using up to the maximum level - Money - Using allotted capex / budgeted amount in the right projects - Project Management: Plays leading role in all Distribution projects, collaborates with country and regional functions to ensure all necessary inputs / feedback / consent have been taken and incorporated. Must ensure all rules of the land pertaining to the type of product being transported is well understood and complied. b. Deep involvement required from the start of hiring contractors / freight forwarders and handholding till they understand company culture, operational & safety requirements fully. c. Support team in conducting vendor evaluations along with Safety and Procurement team d. Periodic review of contractor's performance and providing feedback for improvement e. Driving Zero Based Costing approach across region to get the best operating cost 3. Cost Management, KPI & Productivity - Review asset utilization (Time & Capacity) with Country & Regional Distribution Managers. - Accountable to improve Key Performing Indicators (KPI) of country in comparison to last benchmark - Bulk Distribution KPIs - Tons per Trip or Nominals per Trip - Higher is better - Capacity Utilization - Higher is better - Return Quantity - Lower is better - Transit Loss - Lower is better - Km per Trip - Lower is better - Transit Efficiency - Higher is better Packaged Gases & Products - Km per Nominal - Lower is better - Nominals per Trip - Higher is better - Capacity Utilization - Higher is better - Full Cylinder Returns - Lower is better (target - ZERO) - Cost per Nominal - Lower is better - Km per Trip - Lower is better - Full for Empty - 100% - Delivery in Full & On-Time (DIFOT) - 100% Export & Import Transactions - Cost per Trip - Cost per Cylinder - Capacity Utilization - Trip Turn Around Time - Carry out Fleet Mix Analysis to estimate right number & right type of vehicles required for business - Review and work closely with Country/Regional teams to control Variable Distribution Cost (VCD) - Develops efficient logistic model and cost-effective route management - Review drop-sizes periodically, and work with Country Team on improvement projects like changeover of delivery mode from cylinders to liquid containers or tank (VIE) augmentation or induction of higher capacity trucks etc. - Productivity - Lead brainstorm sessions to identify potential areas of improvement - Provide necessary training on skill development / six-sigma - Meeting the saving targets of the country - Ensure regionally driven projects are being executed at site level as per guidelines - Develop & review Automated Dashboards (tableau) on regular basis, study the trends and take appropriate actions to sustain or improve as necessary 4. Fleet Management (includes vehicle, other equipment) - Ensure whole fleet (owned or contracted) is maintained as per set guidelines or SOPs - Conduct periodic reviews of fleet maintenance programs to ensure its compliance as per company and statutory norms - Reviewing the designs & specifications of other equipment like Tail Liftgate, Cranes, Motorized Trolley, Power Take-Off, Anti-Tow Away System etc. and provide required support to Country Teams prior finalizing the make/model & installations. - Maintenance Management Programs - developing, reviewing, modifying SOPs. 5. Contractor Management (includes transport contractor, driver supplying agencies, other vendors etc.) - Direct involvement required in new transport contractor evaluation, qualification, and induction - Reviewing contractor wise score card on periodic basis and taking appropriate actions (reward or reprimand) to improve performance - Ensure necessary trainings & knowledge sharing sessions are conducted for transport contractors - Driver Ratio required per vehicle (including bench) to ensure smooth supplies - Oversee implementation of Driver Reward & Reprimand program - Participate in at least one driver safety meeting per month and share expectations - Ensuring driver wise performance score card (DRP) is reviewed on periodic basis - High Risk Drivers are taken through proper coaching sessions - Necessary actions are being taken on regular / wilful violators - Review the tableau dashboard reports and drive the performance improvement plan Key Interfaces : 1. Educational Qualification & Skills Required - Graduate degree holder, preferably in Engineering or Science or Logistics / Supply Chain Management - Languages: Local and English (read, speak, and write) - Expert in Cryogenic Industry, Transportation Management, Road Safety, Contractor Management & Project Management - Proficient computer knowledge (MS Office specially Excel, Presentations, ERP preferably SAP, Data Analytics tool like PowerBI or Tableau) - Thorough understanding of motor vehicles rules & regulations and logistics environment Preferred: - Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or Postgraduate in Business Administration - Experience on Automobile Maintenance Workshop Management will be an added advantage - Hands on experience of Export & Import regulations for transportation of Dangerous Goods B. Relevant Experience & Certification: - Minimum of 15 (fifteen) years' experience in large multi discipline and diverse logistics & supply chain operations, preferably from cryogenic industry or gas & chemical industry Salary : 25-30 LPA
