Senior Engineering Director - Software Product

Market Leading B2B Software Product Company with HQ in UK & Product Engineering team based in India (Chennai)

About Role.

The Senior Engineering Director is responsible for all Chennai Engineering resources and their deliverable. The Senior Engineering Director will take responsibility for a number of Engineering Directors who own the individual products and the operations of the lab and infrastructure to support the engineering function.

The Senior Engineering Director will oversee the execution of the products, but more importantly take responsibility for driving the next phase of evolution in the engineering function, specifically:

Requirements:

- Extensive experience in a Software Product organisation at a leadership level

- Extensive experience of driving efficiency gains in a product engineering organization

- Extensive experience of leading large teams (> 100 engineers)

- Extensive experience of driving engineering transformation programs; e.g. Agile, Cloud, DevOps

- Experience of engineering best practices and automation to drive optimal efficiency

- Experience of multiple methods of measuring engineering throughput and quality

- Experience of a variety of software models; e.g. SaaS, OnPremise, Cloud

- Educated to degree level.

- The importance of exceptional presentation, facilitation and relationship building skills cannot be overstated for this role.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and coach engineering directors to produce optimal teams, performing at a high level of efficiency with the highest level of quality

- Regular exec level reporting on productivity metrics, quality metrics and improvement plans to address challenges

- Periodic organizational reviews, with associated improvement plans

- Ensuring individual performance assessments are undertaken regularly, with associated improvement plans

- Strategic review of our product lab strategy (hardware platforms, cost, etc) leading to proposal to reduce costs.

Competencies:

- Extensive experience of managing large engineering teams (> 100 engineers)

- Extensive knowledge of software development processes, agile, agile at scale, devops, etc

- Broad and extensive knowledge of Architectural styles and design patterns

- AWS, google cloud, Azure design, deployment and operational knowledge.

Must Have Skills:

- B2B Product Development leadership experience.

- Experience Working with Internationally spread teams

- Strong Process/efficiency Improvement, Agile methodology experience.

- Good experience working on Cloud, Devops environment.
