Sr. Director - Head of Software Engineering

Reports to CIO

- Looking for someone from either Ecommerce or Fintech Industry with experience in managing customer facing web or mobile based applications with large volume transactions- )

- To lead the IT capabilities and projects for B2B2C and retail channels. The incumbent will be responsible to grow and scale the IT capabilities for this segment while ensuring the systems run efficiently at 99.99% with response times ensuring

- Customer experience for both consumers and customer partners. Have a good understanding of tools and technique for understanding customer behavior to improve customer conversion.

1. Strategic Planning and Execution -

- Should have experience in mobility (Web and native apps), must have an intimate experience with native app development (Android, iOS), as well as experience developing products for the mobile web.

- 10+ years of experience managing Mobile/Web application development including mobile applications

- Hands-on experience coding in more than one currently popular Mobile/Web application framework.

- A technocrat having hands-on experience on Ecommerce technologies, pro in coding.

- History of strong leadership and the ability to maintain a collaborative culture.

- Previously managed, mentored, motivated and grew a mature and goal-driven engineering team.

- Familiar with more than one software development methodology.

- Has contributed to one or more open-source projects.

- Familiarity with technical requirements of Internet marketing and search engine optimization.

- Familiarity with information security vulnerabilities and risk management.

- Familiarity with consumer privacy and payment industry compliance requirements.

- Exposure to business theory, business process development, governance processes, management, budgeting, and administrative operations.

2. Lead Change Management -

- Responsible for leading, planning and executing change management across different stakeholders like Sales, Infra, Operations, Infosec production teams etc. Ensure transparent communication, gain alignment, and manage disruptions in a planned and proactive manner.

- Map out the stakeholders and take proactive steps

3. Developing Relationships with Stakeholders -

- Work with multiple workstreams, and cross functional resources, including the global technology team to implement new products/platforms and solutions.

- Building credibility with key stakeholders and liasing with internal teams like Dev, QA, Infosec and production support to complete the delivery life cycle.

4. Team Management and Development -

- Develop and lead a high performing team that is purpose aligned and has the energy and passion to deliver the vision of the vertical.

- Ensure the team is adequately staffed with the right skills to build and scale for the future.

- Responsible for identifying skills for the team, upskilling with the right programs and ensure a robust development of the team.

5. Governance :

- Work closely with Infosec to ensure cyber security for the IT capabilities.

- Ensure clean audits and remediation of observations in a sustainable manner.

- Maintain proper documentation, metrics and publish management level dashboards to highlight areas of concerns with mitigation plans.

6. Thought Leadership :

- Share knowledge, mentor, and educate the organization's management partners, customers, and stakeholders with regard to the company's technological vision, opportunities, and challenges.

Technical / Functional Skills:

1. Experience in implementing large customer facing retail web based applications, API enabled and mobility based applications

2. Exprerience of telematics and cx tracking and monitoring

3. Good understanding of Information Security Processes

4. Produce quality results in high pressure situations in a dynamic environment

5. Work with constraints and ambiguous situations with respect to solution designing and conceptualizing of opportunities, the candidate must have a worked in a technical background with a good understanding of enterprise applications / services delivery.

6. The person must have exceptional communication and organizational skills and ability to work in a matrix organization across different time zones.

7. Have prior coding experience in one or more of the following: Java, .NET, Python, SQL

8. Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases. (RDBMS and No SQL Dbs)

9. Ability to design and implement architectures within a public cloud (AWS or Azure) would be preferred

10. Proven experience of leading enterprise scale data strategies and their implementation

11. Ability to describe and implement Data services from a product centric viewpoint

12. Quickly gain a deep understanding of the existing technical infrastructure and will ultimately own it.

13. Experience in Cloud migration and setting up teams to manage a cloud environment. Skillsets in putting in place processes and team structures to run the enterprise wide infrastructure on Cloud.

14. Should be well versed with setting up Foundational services on AWS & Azure

15. Ability to manage Capex Budgeting and Tracking spends.
