Sr. Director-Category for eCommerce Company
A leading E-commerce company is hiring for Sr. Director, who would be handling one of the categories.
Looking for candidates who have done their MBA from Tier 1 colleges like IIM, XLRI, NMIMS, FMS, MDI, KJSIMR, IIT, GIM, ISB and so on/ or candidates who have done their MBA from Ivy Leagues.
General Expectations from the role :
P&L responsibility of a set of categories including :
- Buying within category
- Decision on split b/w Marketplace and Retail
- Framing category rules
- Marketing and promo decisions
- Consumer feedback - translate into corrective actions
- Performance assessment of vendors
- Planning & Operations.
Cross functional skills :
- Strategic vendor relationship management within India & Abroad
- Merchandising & sales strategy for his categories.
- Build a team of high performing professionals.
- Expectations from the Profile
Strategic :
- Define the business plan: Understand where opportunities are, drive choices and develop rigorous plans to service the opportunities
- Know the market: Stay on top of trends in an ever-changing landscape, find new opportunities and prioritize based on size, internal capabilities, etc.
- Know the customer: Understand connected customer behavior, develop new customer insights
- Know the competition: Understand on-line and off-line players, react to changes as and when necessary in an appropriate manner
- Influence the leadership: Convert strategies into action selling the vision, liaising with cross-functional leadership and driving the changes required
People leader :
- Build, groom and retain a strong team to deliver across functions
- Set goals, define KIs and mobile team effectively to deliver
- Build and encourage cross functional networks, lead by personal example
Delivery :
- Deliver under accelerated timelines
- Create processes that are scalable, seek and institutionalize best practices
- Drive performance improvements in processes with multiple internal and external linkages
Desired background :
- Educational background - should be from top tier undergraduate and management institution
- 7+ years of work experience with a stellar track record
- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems. In particular, identifying customer needs and inventing new ways to meet those needs.
