Senior Data Scientist - Energy Sector (5-10 yrs)

Job Brief : We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Data Scientist for one of our esteemed clients with a strong background in the energy sector. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our approach to mathematical modelling, optimization, and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate holds at least a Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, operations research, or physics and possesses a minimum of 5 years of experience in data science within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop and implement advanced mathematical models and optimization techniques to solve complex problems in the energy sector.

- Utilize solid computer and data management skills, with proficiency in Python and SQL, to extract meaningful insights from diverse datasets.

- Apply modern approaches such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to enhance predictive modelling and decision-making processes.

- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Nordic and Finnish power markets, coupled with experience in power market modelling. Optimization experience is considered an asset.

- Exhibit outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex challenges in the energy domain.

- Cultivate a curious, innovative, and forward-looking mindset, contributing to the continuous improvement of our data science practices.

- Act as a strong team player, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, and communicating insights in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications :

- Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, operations research, or physics.

- 5+ years of experience in data science, with a focus on the energy sector for senior positions.

- Proficiency in mathematical modelling and optimization techniques.

- Solid computer and data management skills, with expertise in Python and SQL.

- Understanding of modern approaches, including AI and ML.

- Knowledge of Nordic and Finnish power markets, with experience in power market modelling (optimization experience is an asset).

- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Curious, innovative, and forward-looking mindset.

- Strong team player with effective communication skills.

- Fluent in English; the ability to communicate in Finnish is seen as an asset.
