Sattva Capital - Investment Research Analyst - Startup Vertical

We are looking for an Investment Analyst to assist in the evaluation, analysis and diligence of tech-enabled early-stage companies in India, from an investors- perspective. The primary focus will be on early-stage companies (startups), however may also involve late-stage companies. These companies may span across multiple industries, but will all be utilizing technology in a meaningful way. Candidates should be able to conduct research using public and private sources of information, perform relevant financial analysis, and clearly communicate analysis in the form of investment notes and research reports.

Over time, the candidate will be required to have developed strong evaluative skills and domain expertise, which can be relied upon for initial screening of deals, and working with management teams to help grow companies.

Responsibilities :

- Conduct research on companies using company presentations, financial projections, related industry data from public sources, information on competitors, and other sources

- Perform robust financial analysis including financial modeling (DCF), comparable company analysis, sensitivity & valuation analysis, and others

- Write clear, detailed and investment reports detailing research findings and analysis. Over time, candidates will need to develop the ability to effectively evaluate and think critically about individual companies, and detail such thoughts into investment notes.

- Interact with management teams for investment evaluation and on an ongoing basis

- Track performance and other relevant metrics of portfolio companies

- Understand business and revenue models of early-stage companies

- Attend investment conferences and interact with founders for further investment consideration

- Assist in business, legal, operational and financial due diligence

- Prepare quarterly portfolio summaries regarding performance and other relevant metrics

Requirements :

- 1-3 years of experience in direct investing, investment research and/or investment evaluation, preferably focusing on early-stage companies

- Ability to interpret large amounts of data into meaningful insights

- Ability to multi-task i.e. work on multiple different companies alongside each other

- Ability to write research reports clearly, and think independently using multiple data sources

- Strong oral communication and presentation skills

- Strong desire to work with early stage companies to promote their growth // High level of motivation
