Business Context and Main Purpose of the Role

The SAP Infrastructure CoE (SIC) is integral to this strategy, working in alignment with the ISSD functions, Innovate, Activate and Operate to provide Enterprise Solutions, Infrastructure and Geography IT with a unified gateway to the SAP Private Cloud platform in a high quality, cost and time efficient manner whilst activating world class integrated capabilities in collaboration with Innovate, Activate & Operate and in full support of Infrastructure and Service Delivery ambitions.

The SAP infrastructure project manager will be responsible for managing a variety of infrastructure based projects within the scope of work identified for the SAP CoE.

Main Accountabilities

Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project. Take responsibility for the definition, documentation and safe execution of projects, actively participating in all phases of the project.

Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and tracks all activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders, as appropriate.

Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensures that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria.

Initiates and influences relationships with and between key stakeholders, in business change design, management and implementation, acting as a primary point of contact for senior stakeholders and influencers.

Manages the change control procedure and ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. Gains agreement for revisions to the project(s) from project sponsors.

Provides effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience. Takes appropriate action where performance deviates from agreed tolerances. Actively represents the project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained with the business.

Identifies mechanisms by which benefits can be delivered and measured, and plans to activate these mechanisms at the required time. Recognises issues that may help or hinder the change and works with others to tackle them.

Determines the readiness levels of business users with regard to upcoming changes; uncovers readiness gaps and creates and implements action plans to close the gaps prior to go-live.

Relevant Experience

Essential (8 years or more):

- Skills such as business case preparation, project definition, planning, risk management, project change control, configuration management, financial management and staff selection for managing projects.

- Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation.

- Excellent stakeholder Management experience

- Service Management

- Broad understanding of SAP Basis in Global Environment Broad knowledge of Global SAP infrastructure (inc. storage, network, servers, tooling, capacity management & planning)

- Broad knowledge of SAP Landscape management (System refreshes and release cycles)

- System migrations, EHP upgrades, AIX patching & Db2 upgrades

- Acquiring understanding of a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically and identifying the relationships between these parts.

- Applying quality standards to all tasks undertaken and ensuring that nothing is overlooked.

- Methods and techniques for reporting progress and financial compliance against an agreed plan.

- Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects.

Examples: product/work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, earned value, resource analysis, conflict resolution.

- Project management methods and leadership skills, as preparation for more demanding project management responsibility.

- Methods, techniques and tools for the analysis, assessment and management of risk.

- Methods, techniques associated with Global change control
